Teams for Game II

I can't remember NSW actually having many chances in the 2nd half. I think we pretty much owned the final 20 mins. It will be a much different story at home!

I disagree, I think he had the best hit-ups of any Qld forward, bar Parker. That nothing came of them is not his fault.
Besides, the other thing he has better than pretty much anyone else, is his line speed. He is there first, and sometimes it costs him a missed tackle because there is no one else to help, but more often than not, he hits well and the player stays down.

Yes, Te'o is an aggressive player, but Gillett can be too, although that seems to have been coached out of him a bit.
Anyway, I would keep both and remove McQueen and Harrison, and bring another hard hitter in Papalii and a good working prop in Hannant or Lawrence, although like you say, that realistically ain't gonna happen for Harrison...

Yeah Gillett can probably get aggressive but is that gonna intimidate NSW? No.

Te'o getting aggressive is going to be better.

Who would you rather run at: Te'o or Gillett? Anyone who would rather run at Te'o has rocks in their head.

I don't think anyone really intimidates anyone at that level.
Yes, Te'o is not someone you want to run at, but there is more to Rugby League than placing a good shot, and in every other aspect Gillett is better. But I d'still have both there and bring in Papalii too for the extra intimidation, hard hitting factor.

Carl Webb intimidated Luke Bailey in 2005. Bailey was looking the rest of the game.

Kurt. Gidley.

It's sad that I can only see one change happening for QLD, Hannant for McQueen. I respect loyalty, but sometimes the players and the coach need to realise that someone is just past it. I agree with the rest about Harrison, he's one of my favourite players and I think he's been great for QLD in the past, but he's definitely past it now. Papalli surely has to come in for him.

But at the same time you can't have a back row of Parker, Myles and Thaiday. They are all middle third runners. I really don't think Thaiday or Parker would work too well on the edges these days. So you'd have the same situation where they just lack the lateral movement to match the NSW footwork. At the same time I don't think Te'o or Gillett are starter material...so maybe Big Papa goes straight into the starting side?

8. Scott
10. Myles
11. Papalli
12. Thaiday
13. Parker

14. DCE
15. Shillington
16. Hannant
17. Te'o/Gillett

Like it Alec....'cept I have no doubts over whether it's Teo or Gillett. For me it's Teo.

Last year I was calling for DCE to start and Cronk to come off the bench......I kinda shyed away from the idea after the first game of the series, not through how Cronk played (he was quiet) but because I eventually conceded that he probably deserved a good shot at the position being hows he spent a few years as the utility.

I've made excuses for Cronk for last year. He did have some moments. Obviously the fg ....but I thought he almost won game 2 back for us after he returned from the sin bin. Some may argue he lost the game for us by being sent to the bin, but I disagree. One thing I do agree with is, he was poor by his own standards. How long can I continue to make excuses for him?

I've really liked the way DCE has come back this year after arguably suffering just a tad from the 2nd yr rookie syndrome in 2012. He seems bigger and stronger. He defence is as good as any. He wouldn't look out of place in Origin. I think he's the type of player who can play to up to their potential in the big games when it's needed.

Yeah, I'd prefer Te'o too, purely because I don't think there's a big difference between them and Broncos would benefit the most by having Gillett not play Origin.

Cronk has been fairly disappointing in his 4 games as a starting half in Origin, but I'd still give him this year to show us what's he's got, seeing as how he's still comfortably the 2nd best half in the game after Thurston.

Slater, Boyd, Inglis, Hodges, Tate, Thurston, Cronk, Scott, Smith, Shillington, Myles, Thaiday, Parker

McQueen, Papalii, Cherry-Evans, Hannant.

McQueen is worse than Te'o or Gillett, and like I said before, I think that starting back row is like a truck in terms of mobility.

I'd just take a chance and start with Papalli. He's just a few good Origin performances away from being the best edge back rower we have IMO.

I think DCE is a made-for-Origin player. He HAS to have a spot for Game II, even if he displaces Cronk. He's the type of player who thrives on pressure, he seems to play better as the game gets tougher. He's exactly what we need and will hopefully guide us to many future series wins.

Just a pity he plays for freakin' Manly, of all clubs..

Hayne could be out for Origin II.

That's good news for us however Dugan is not much of a downgrade, he's still a top quality fullback. Maybe he'll do us a favour and bring the NSW camp a PR nightmare by drinking cruisers on a roof.

Dugan really hasn't been that good for the Dragons.

I thought he was abysmal last week and Hayne is one of the best outside backs NSW have ever had.
