This isolated point isn't the issue. It isn't about TPJ, it is about the precedent it continues after the SBW rubbish last year.

Gasnier/Dragons did it over 10 years ago, he came back and played from Round 17 and won a comp on a pro rata amount.

I don't care if SBW started or not, the point remains it is pure stupidity to allow this to happen. How can claim to have a fair competition if he can LEGITIMATELY get a star player from another club on a pittance at the business end of the season just cos they want to offload him?

The Broncos made this mess and TPJ has contributed to it, he should either be made to sit out or stay at the club until next season. His agent has exploited a nice little loophole here to get a better deal and if the Panthers had $50k more, a shot at a premiership. This is ludicrous.

I guess it is worth the discussion though so have at it but to me this just highlights the mis-management and incorrect direction our club has taken over the last 2 years vs. another reason to complain about the NRL.

How much is it happening...yet. If this deal legit goes / went through, you don't think other clubs are going to follow suit? Parra (denied it) have been spoken about picking up Milf, likely for minimum wage. Regardless of how bad he has become, he has been paid as a marquee at another club. This highlights so many things wrong with the NRL's administration and really, if we are going this path, why even have a salary cap or even more so, why even have contracts?

I suppose that depends on his attitude off the field ... and he did recently meet with a rival coach (reportedly)

Why do you refer to minimum wage, when was that reported? Eels would take on his contract at the permission of the Broncos.

Of course the Broncos aren't going to let the Eels pay minimum wage for 3 months (about 30k) when the Broncos have to pay him ~240k in that same time frame.

I find it funny that we have more sophisticated rules to stop end of season shenanigans where the bottom teams give players to the top teams in SVRL than the NRL has.
