The Dolphins discussion

I don’t care if people wanna give them a funny nickname, but “the” sucks and just makes reading threads confusing.

Call them the dole bludgers maybe? The doll faces? The blowholes? All much better nicknames imo. Their stadium could even be called the dollhouse.

Well it will be interesting. old salt coaching another team and a new team to watch..

If they can get some early success then it could easily snowball as that’s been a big hold back for their recruitment, the belief that they are going to struggle for years.

@Mr Fourex since "The Dolphins" are calling themselves "the Phins" that's what I'll continue to call them. 😁
I will begrudgingly accept ....."the Phins".

At least everybody will know who you're talking about.

Wayne's Wanderers, coming to one of three stadiums near you..

*some stadiums may not be near you

Man your trolling skills have fallen off a cliff recently.
Were they ever good? I only ask because I have never really considered myself a troll. I still have no idea who you are apart from being McHunt's shadow lately

short of a off season miracle the squad is more or less sorted with a few depth players to round out the squad.

I was optimistic for them early on because the forward pack is solid and experienced - though old. Outside backs are average but Bennett has got the job done with pretty low quality backline players before.

If they landed either a quality general to steer the ship or an a real X factor I would’ve given them an outside chance to make the 8 but with no Munster, Latrell, Ponga, or similar type x factor with the ability to have a hot run of form to drag a 4/10 squad into the finals I just don’t see it happening.

I think they would be fortunate to finish 10th with the current team.

No X Factor, and the worst spine in the comp. Even Wayne with a reliable forward pack can’t over come that.

Why isn't the same 'joke' made about the Warriors, they've done the same thing?

Probably because "The" Warriors didn't start that way ... they started as Auckland Warriors, then a long time down the track changed to "NZ" Warriors, before pretty much quietly dropping the location from the Title.

While, the Dolphins have loudly proclaimed that they were not going to be known as Redcliffe and wouldn't be using a geographic location in their name. They're also the new boys on the block, so there's that

Sort of like the 75 years Redcliffe were called Redcliffe.
