I don't think I've felt as bad as I do now this year. Even when we were going through that big losing streak. I somehow thought we would recover. It seems we did, just not as well as what I would've liked. Now Locky is injured and might not come back at all I think we can throw the rest of the season out the window if someone doesn't stand up and lead the team.

We will rue 3 performances:

1. Newcastle at Suncorp. To give up a 10 or 12 point lead is unforgiveable against a nuffy team like Newcastle.
2. Penrith at Suncorp. They were ripe for the picking but Locky reserved his worst game of the season for that one, and the rest of the team dropped to his level.
3. Tigers at Suncorp. Probably the worst attacking display from a Broncos team I have ever seen, and I don't buy this whole "we were without Origin players and Hodges" excuse. The Tigers were well and truly beatable and that we were only up by 2 with a minute to go and let them snatch it is not forgiveable.

3 close games at home we should've won. That's cost us having a real shot at the premiership this season.

And it's an experience our young team will learn from. They need to learn how to win those tight games. Sure, we won a couple this year (Parra in Parra, St George at home) but there's been too many we've surrendered.

Bulldogs game is one I feel we should have won also. Although some dodgy ref calls didn't help in that one.

Nah we had injuries still, and Tronc just off the plane. I didn't expect to win that game and we were never really in it.

The way Canberra are playing I wouldn't be so confident of beating them either...even at home. Our record this year at Suncorp is pretty abysmal.

Better than 03' & 04'. [icon_razz1

But yes - a couple of those home losses have hurt us badly. We'd be sitting much better if we'd gotten our act together vs Newcastle, Wests, even Penrith.

BTW, this weekend coming we need to cheer for St George-Illawarra, Penrith and Wests Tigers.

They play Canberra, Souths and Parramatta respectively, the 3 teams on 24 points.

If the Broncos can jag a win against Newcastle, we can start breathing a LITTLE bit easier.

As the season has proven so far, no game is accepted as a fait accompli. We are in serious trouble now but were hardly better than 50/50 when Lockyer was uninjured. Our odds have blown dramatically since his rib discomfort and I doubt we are going to make the finals. I've had the feeling for a while and thought we may actually get there when we had a bit of a streak going but , in reality we were always balanced on a knife edge.

That last loss was very poor and it is only due to the fact that no standout teams exist in this evened out competition that we look like one of the chances. We have been average this year so far and the credit for that is due to the fact we have deliberately gone for youth and inexperience. Seems to me the leading teams have the blend closer to the requirements for success. I might be wrong but the leading sides appear to be much more mature than us and we may well derive a benefit over the coming years but it looks we'll have to endure some pain before then.

Yes, we're definitely one of the younger (if not youngest?) in the leage at the moment. So you would assume that there's got to be some time for the players to mature and gel together.
