The Thurston myth

I hope not. That might motivate De Vere to make a comeback again.

My arguement isn't that Thurston is a better halfback than Prince, on any given day either could be the dominant player. My arguement is about not trying to fix something that isn't broken.

Yeah, that's been Australian cricket's mentality.

Keep picking the same players until they're 102 years old. And then suddenly we lose the Ashes.

Lockyer and Smith aren't at their dominant best this year, and I think they will struggle with being go-to men in attack and organisers. Organisation and defence will exhaust them. Which leaves Queensland's attack squarely with Thurston.

When all the pressure is on Thurston is when Thurston cracks.

Have Prince there, he takes so much pressure off Smith and Lockyer and they will play better as a result.

Lockyer is going to retire soon anyway so there is no need to break the combo that's been working, for the sake of it. Thurston and Prince will have a good combo for at least the next five years and there's also Cronk. No need.

If Thurston or Lockyer were out of form at that level you have a case but for now sit back and enjoy Thurston/Lockyer. Also Smith will never let Qld down.

Here's another argument. Defensively.

Thurston: 41 tackles missed out of 162, effective rate 75%
Lockyer: 35 tackles missed out of 146, effective rate 76%

Much of a muchness, right?

Prince: 13 out of 85, effective rate 85%

Note that is out of 7 games, whereas Lockyer and Thurston have played 9.

Clearly Lockyer and Thurston are each as unreliable defensively, while Prince is solid. Best to keep one solid half in there, surely.

LOLZ @ Hammo. You can laugh all you want, it just makes you look silly because there was about 8 Queenslanders in the Origin forum who replied to my post and said that they agree when NSW were in front at halftime and when Thurston had a poor first half.

Then Thurston throws a simple dummy and fools an idiot like Brett White and everyone laughs at my response. [icon_lol1. [icon_lol1. [icon_lol1. [icon_lol1.

So I'm in agreeance with you Hammo - One of the funniest things ever seen on BHQ. [icon_lol1. [icon_lol1.

ROFLPEEMYPANTS!!!!

Ever since I immortalised (and trust me, it is immortalised. Run a poll if you don't believe me, the general BHQ population LOVE the fact that you made such a ridiculous statement and that I copied it, to forever heckle you with) that post of yours, you have attempted to deflect the absurdness of the comment.

At least Coxy has the sense to say JT isn't a halfback, you simply said he was over-rated and he then proceeded to destroy your State.

No matter what you try and say, no matter how much you deny it Rock; You got OWNED!!!and partly by yourself [icon_lol1.

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't Scott Prince 30 years old? I can't see him being in the halves for Queensland for the next five years, especially considering Lockyer will be there this year and more than likely next year as well.

he's 29 icon_thumbs_u

And his body would only be 26/27 because of all the time out he had early in his 20s with those broken legs. Fresh as a daisy.

Unlike Thurston's 40-year-old shoulders of balsa wood.

Gidley got robbed last year, I hope he wins this year. There is no way he or Slater wasn't the best player last year especially compared to Orfull.

Slater was sensational last year. Orfull was made to look good because of SNAKE. [icon_non

I was glad to see that result, thought it might've given Orford a better shot at the NSW #7 jersey. Oh well, not to be.

How funny is this thread title, especially considering the amazing form Thurston is currently in.

Wow. Just wow. A few good games and it busts a myth?

I want Mythbusters to bust the myth that Thurston is a halfback.

I'd prefer to bust a move. lolz *puts on my baggy gold pants*
