Re: Wayne Bennet's 2015 Team Line Up

Haven't seen every game during his tenure but by and large I think he's been going ok. This year he has certainly struggled at times. I read somewhere he was one of the players that weren't getting paid. Obviously that would have an effect on his form. As Big Pete said, his form post Origin has been much improved and he easily got the better of Hayne, a more highly fancied opponent.

Bottom line for me though, I'd rather Boyd from 2009-10 than Barba from 2012 form. That's just my opinion.

People keep carrying on about how Boyd wasn't getting paid, and I've left it because I figure you guys are just spouting out shit uve heard from a mate etc, basically Chinese whispers from someone u know reading the news.

lets clear this up. Boyd was getting paid his contractual salary from the club. What he hadn't received was his payments from a 3rd party agreement. Massive difference. He was getting paid, just not ALL of it.

Re: Wayne Bennet's 2015 Team Line Up

Ikin is of the belief that our line-up next season will be -

If Boyd follows daddy home:

1. Milford
6. Boyd
7. Hunt
14. Barba (Or released)

If Boyd doesn't follow daddy home:

1. Milford
6. Barba
7. Hunt

Fair enough, QUEENSLANDER. I don't know all the ins and outs but will take your word for it. I'd still be a bit miffed though that I was getting some of the money I was owed not ALL of it but that's just me. I hate reading **** about payments owed to workers of any profession really. I know footballers aren't exactly scraping by and can certainly make ends meet with their salary but it still irks me.

Re: Wayne Bennet's 2015 Team Line Up

Funny pics but don't know what's so crazy about it. Boyd was awesome in those years and he was instrumental in winning a premiership. Barba was in terrific form in 2012 and got the Bulldogs to a Grand Final...which they lost and he probably had his worst game of the year.

Boyd's big match experience would be a massive bonus in our back line, if nothing else.

Don't worry fellas - keep on giving Barba a pass mark based on potential. . . I'm sure this will be the week. . .

God i hope Boyd does NOT follow Bennett. Boyd at 6 will be a disaster ... not as bad as Hoffman but close to that type of failure

And going by the news reports the person not paying the third patty agreement was none other than Nathan Tinkler, who made up for the $200k shortfall by sending abusive text messages and telling Boyd he was going to be traded to another club.
If your company's owner was stiffing you of a good portion of your salary while abusing you via sms and threatening to sell you to a competitor would that impact on your performance at work?

I really don't get why we would put Boyd at five-eight.

Re: Wayne Bennet's 2015 Team Line Up

Your premise that a full back will get the ball more often than a 5/8 is an interesting one, albeit completely incorrect.

What our forward pack will look and more importantly, will play like next season is a question mark, but if there is one thing that WB generally does well, is getting a forward pack to play well and dominate the ruck, which of course will benefit Barba.
He may not reach the heights of 2012, but he is certainly a much better option at 5/8 than anyone else bar Milford, so one of those should stay at FB, the other 5/8, Hoffman to the wing, and Boyd left right out, thanks...

So you are saying that a full back won't touch the ball more than a 6? You must be watching a different game.

He will touch it more, perhaps, but not in attacking movemets etc. Getting the ball from a kick is a bit different to getting it almost every other tackle in an attacking set.

Re: Wayne Bennet's 2015 Team Line Up

Boyd's grandmothers health is probably more significant than anything else to him this year

Who's giving him a pass mark? I think everyone on this forum has acknowledged that he's played like shit this year, but to say that you'd take Boyd over the 2012 Barba is just absurd.

I was watching the game of Rugby League. Not sure which game you're talking about...

These are the ball possession stats for the most prominent 5/8's and fullbacks for the current season so far:

Re: Wayne Bennet's 2015 Team Line Up

The most interesting part about that table, is how low Hoggman is in the ball possession stakes. Demonstration of how alone Benny Hunt has been all season!

Re: Wayne Bennet's 2015 Team Line Up

LOL ....Josh McCrap at the top of the pile for touches.

No wonder the Raiders are so shit.
