Didn't Taylor leave because Bennett didn't have a spot for him, not the money? Fail to see how that's Boyd's problem.
At any rate. I'd have picked Boyd any day of the week over a kid with no experience, that some crazy foreigner had a chub for ;-)
Disagree completely.
Issue isn’t Boyd but structuring a team with 1 5/8 and 1 guy trying to learn to be an NRL 5/8 way too early in his career. It isn’t that Boyd isn’t a good player but simply that the spine was lacking a true halfback moreso given the hooker is a tackling machine with slow service and the fullback is a sweep play and defensive fullback. The high risk gamble almost paid off early but then when confidence was lost it all went out the window there was no structure or leadership left to fallback on.
If Boyd was coming back to Broncos on compassionate grounds then he was always welcome at a half price if we had that to spare are locking in essentials (since he took himself out of the market) essentially and if willing to play anywhere such as wing or centre.
Same issue I have with Bird signing. Good player but what is the plan? He is a nice to have at the right price but his contract is likely so high it limits offers for a must have such as a real halfback. Like the idea of him at hooker or lock but he is untested there. Not to mention He has come in looking like a mess (admittedly has surgery but shoulder doesn’t stop you hopping on a bike or ordering you foodz rather than chicken nuggets all summer long, might be depressed looking at him play in fairness however in which case he needs help and sharks have a lot to answer for how they handled him).
