Updated - Lockyer rules himself out of Manly match

I don't like the Gillett selection because it just seems like a negative attitude to have.

What position? The bench? :P

There's no denying he plays a very important role within this team. We've had a lot of success with him coming on fresh through the middle. It's inevitable he'll create at least one try scoring opportunity.

IMO, without Locky it's even more important we preserve this avenue. This is my concern. If bomb it to Yow Yeh doesn't pay then we are left with little besides trying to get Hodges one on one (we've missed this big time this year, hopefully he is back to his best) and the inside ball to Beale.

if we were to lose to manly, at least Lockyer went out in an epic and fitting way with how he played his last game. basically summarized his whole career in that game.

and i was there to see it :)

It's ok guys. Robert Lui told me these sort of injuries happen a lot around this time of year, and he'll be ok in a few days.

It has to be hunt or Norman IMO. Otherwise we better be signing someone to replace locky next year.

Just because that's the answer next season doesn't mean it's the answer now. This isn't a situation where we can throw someone like Norman in and hope that within 5-6 weeks he shows us that he has what we need in the 6 jersey. We have a situation where our team is on a roll and it's in our best interests to cause as least disruption as possible.

Gillett to 5/8th makes sense in that regard. He has tremendous ability to break the line (interested to see how Beale goes running off him), had plenty of football smarts and a great defender.

Initially I thought Hook had developed a bit of Ivanitis but the more I think about it the more confident I am about Gillett at 5/8th.

This is 2009 history repeating all over again.

Play a friggin halfback in the halves to at least give us a genuine second option in attack. Norman goes missing/is not mature enough in the clutch (see Raiders game this year for example) and this game will be a one pointer.

Griffin has proved to make outstanding decisions so far this year, so I hope he continues the trend.

I think Coxy has the right gameplan. The problem is unless our forwards are right over the top of Manly (which they did manage to do and should be fired up to do), our kicking game will be vital and with only 1.5 options (with Gillett I doubt being capable of providing any real option) we could be handing the ball over the Manly inside our own half all night.

2.5 options. Macca is a fair boot from dummyhalf.
