I think the difference between lodge and pierce is when you sign a player, you sign him for more than just a few games. Lodge has showed a willingness to change his lifestyle and a contrition for his past actions, as has roberts. This is not to say I'm completely on board with either lodge or roberts as signings, but its history now. Pierce and carney are less clear in the way they have changed their habits. I remember the likes of Julian Oneil, David Taylor and Carl Webb. They were all "good" players until their off-field habits caught up with them.
Could we use a good organising half? sure. But, lets face it, there isn't one available. If this continues, I'm not adverse to giving the likes of Dargon or scarlett a go (provided they are killing it in Q Cup), but lets give it a little time. Once a change is made (remember hunt last year), it can be very disruptive and can take several games to fit together.
Before we even think about changing halves, our forwards need to fire, and the 3/4 line needs to get its act together. Otherwise the second coming of lockyer won't fix this team.
