The bottom line is, when he was at the top of his game, I didn't mind his grumpy/bitter/angry persona. His cringe-worth emotional outbursts would have still been cringe-worthy but I wouldn't have cared. Previously I don't think he was as grumpy/bitter/angry as he is now regardless. IMO his whole "media is the enemy" thing is really old. I like coaches like Bellamy when his stomping around seemingly losing his mind, Stuart on the sidelines kicking chairs and jumping around. I loved Brown's comment about little head and big head. Then other coaches are being interviewed and participating in humorous little skits and etc. Bennett comes across as having the charisma of a damp rag.

I can't understand how anyone is happy about Bennett his grumpy/bitter/angry persona but that's just the way I feel about it. If you feel differently, I'm happy for you.

The only reason I bring it up to start with is I believe he has screwed up badly with the contract length and size of Bird, Milford and Boyd. If he proves me wrong by the end of the season, I will gladly admit I was wrong.

What you consider bitterness and grumpiness is down to your jaundiced view and most of us see through the facade and realise that WB is in the entertainment business. We know that he is playing his part in a heavily orchestrated environment and he isn't going to give you what you want. That's why we respect him despite not agreeing with every decision he makes. For me, Thaiday would have finished in 2017 as an example of me not agreeing.

What you put down to "mastery of the media" I put down to the fact he is pretty much the only coach who gets mentioned in Brisbane while Sydney coaches are all getting mentioned in relatively equal measure, Melbourne and Auckland are not RL towns, Canberra, GC and Newcastle have a much smaller population.

Good point. But the answer is still yes. Who would you prefer be Broncos coach, WB or Bellamy? The latter yis a better coach but also has a personality. At least in public. As I have to keep reiterating, out of the public eye, WB may be a very charming old man and Bellamy the opposite. Bellamy is certainly ruthless. I would hope that personality trait doesn't carry over into his private life but as coach, I love it. At least I would love it if he was practicing it at the Broncos.
