I have nothing against the guy but I just think we have moved on and don't think we should bring him back now. He was entitled to take the ridiculous money on offer and I don't blame him for that.
The titans look like turning into a shit show now and it could be a long season for him there next year. I doubt he will stay there after his contract ends but don't know where he will end up.

Roosters or The

Yes easily but at the right price.
Unfortunately Fifi has played for two clubs that were dumpster fires with no leadership. Obviously the Broncos have changed since and it'd be a better environment for him to grow. Also less pressure on him with a well drilled unit.

In saying that, I thought Staggs would be more explosive this year with Reynolds on the field. I feel his form has been quite average but is flying under the radar with the general public because the Broncos are soaring.

Considering how little ball he gets on that side he's been more then fine in attack, 8 try contributions, 72 tackle breaks and 10 linebreaks in 17 games so far is far from average.

He's a far more well rounded player now, has been one of the best defensive centres this year.

In 2020 (and 2021 when he eventually got on the field) our entire game plan was get him the ball as much as possible, we have a lot of attacking weapons now and we mostly favour the left side still.

Compared to other second rowers in the league, Fifita’s 15 possessions per game actually put right up the top near the likes of Hudson Young (16) and Mitchell Barnett (17), who lead the way. Those statistics too are somewhat skewed as Barnett, for instance, has spent some time playing in the middle for Newcastle.

Doesnt mean anything. When he has touched the ball its been far from effective.

Nah , he`s lazy and disinterested is the narrative .
Goes to show he is far from lazy . And that his team has no idea how to use him effectively .

We saw against the Broncos they throw him the ball from a slow PTB with the defence set and say go Dave .
Needs a quick PTB and some space . He can shred defences if given the right opportunity .

You do realise its also up to him to read a game a bit and put himself in the right places too? Back rowers don't just wait to be served on a plate.

He`s a 2nd rower not a FB ...

The recipe is in my post above .

Agree, he is more involved in games than people think or perceive, he is just not being used effectively due to the Titans not having other teams on the back foot that often and when they do their halves aren't making the most of it.

No way he is worth the current contract but he is still a weapon in a team with the game plan to use it.

imo there is no doubt big Dave goes missing when it comes to doing the ugly stuff but the titans are also completely under-utilising him.

He would be devastating if he was getting some of the same ball Capewell is for example - let alone if he was getting the service that Kikau is.

He definitely isnt worth the current price tag but if DD can get him back on a steal like Walsh he is probably worth it. Maybe $500k max?

The real question for me is, is our team in a position to carry him during the tough times or are our wins heavily reliant on heart, and would he jeopardise that?

He would be similar to Staggs and I’m not sure the team can accomodate 2 of those players, especially as they’ll likely be on the same edge.

If you got him for $400k to come rampaging off the bench you’d be wrapped.

I really like how Riki has stepped up of late and absolutely not advertising to replace him as I think we are just scratching the surface with him but imagine a right side of Fifita-Staggs-Cobbo. Goodness me, that would be a nightmare for any defense, especially when you have Capewell-Farnworth-Oates on the other side.

It's a strong positive thought yes but, I think we are better off with Riki. Riki has alot more effort in defence alone and puts his heart in the position. Fifita drifts in and out of games and Staggs is a bit the same. When it come back to defence wins games I don't think we would be sitting as pretty as we are if he was in our starting 2nd row.

If I did want Fifita back I would bring him back off the bench in around the 25 30 minute mark for impact.

Feel it's worth a bump considering the latest rumours.

Anyone change their mind either way?

It all depends on the deal. I think even $700k is too much considering his output last season, but i could live with that fee on a 2 year deal with an option for a third in our favour.
