Your QLD team

The big question is have we got enough go foward in the fowards. Scott will need to perform to his maximum . So much will depend on him. I hope Mcguire is up to it , but let,s face it he is unproven in this company. Sammy will try hard as usual , but he is really not a hit up specialist. Same applies to Corey. I am not saying they can't get the job done ,but they all will have to bring their best games. IMHO we have never really found the equal of Civa and Price (In their prime).

Benny Hunt should have got the nod over Morgan. He has paid his dues and was ready for the step up. Plus he looked fantastic for us last year in the 4 nations when he came on off the bench. I seriously questions Morgan's ability to defend at hooker if need by especially in SOO because he isn't going to replace a half or back unless injury strikes.

Another one eyed dillusionial Broncos supporter. Smith will play 80 minutes unless injured. Morgan will not play hooker if Smith is injured. Cronk will do that as he has done in the past with JT or the utility playing half or 5/8. Despite your assessment of Hunt, (and he is s good player) he is down the pecking order as a utility; half back maybe ; but not a utility!!

If you put a few more exclamations marks it might help get your point across.

In being a smart arse you have actually pointed out what my issue is with him, so thanks for that.

He played these other positions in the nyc or q cup. I don't remember him playing 9 in the NRL (he may have done but it really couldn't have been much) so that's why I don't view him as a utility.

2014 DCE, Lillyman, McQueen, Taylor, Guerra, Papalli, Te'o, Gillett were the bench over the 3 games.

Who was the backup hooker/utility??

Morgan is not a hooker. He will not play hooker in Origin as Cronk has played there three times in 2010 as the utility player.
If Cam Smith is injured Cronk will hook and JT will play half back and Morgan 5/8!

How on earth Morgan a better utility than Morgan? Like seriously?

Slater ran well tonight. Very vocal session against the Bears.

Plenty of directions given 'at Pearce.'

I can picture some poor Burleigh half being the honorary "Pearce" and getting routinely snotted.

Why need a utility full stop? Say hooker goes down, McGuire has shown he is great in the role, and say a half goes down, Gillett could potentially go to half, or alternatively Smith can go there with Mcguire going to hooker again. These are all "What if?" scenarios though. Say we don't need a utility at all, what does Morgan do?

This is where I get a little lost in the debate, McGuire is great at 9, Gillett could go to half, he has been tried at NRL level and went like a busted, Smith going to half and Mcguire to 9 is better than Smith staying at 9 and Morgan to 6.

The whole utility debate is all what if scenarios of course, but if there are no injuries I would think Morgan will be used on an edge for 10 min before half time and about the same after.

McGuire is great at 9. definitely one of the more interesting pieces of dribble ive seen on this forum

Why the obsession with playing hooker? Did we have that option in Slater or Hunt on the bench?

Probably because people are so used to having bench hookers in the NRL I guess, it's not like Smith can't play 80 minutes, I think it'll be fine for Morgz to come on and just play a hybrid backrower / 2nd Five-Eighth role for 15 minutes, the belief that bench utilities have to be able to play Hooker is pretty irrelevant in Origin

A classic Postost hoc, ergo propter hoc comment if ever there was one.!.
Very clever broncos4life or are you just confused; 'Like seriously!!"

I'm still thinking i would rather Napa on the bench than Morgan.

That NSW bench is pretty formidable.

Morgan will come in the 2nd row just roving like DCE did. Except with a lot more impact and will hit holes at 100 miles per hour. Napa would also be nice on the bench. Wouldn't mind him shoting pearce, farrah and the rest of the scumbags back to shitville.

You could have just answered the question

Slater, Inglis and Hodges will play it's just the Maroons playing mind games

Mal has already said Slater is playing. Inglis is sick. Mark Gasnier is an idiot and I don't think anyone is more regularly wrong than him. Hardly mind games.
