Tonight proved that Hunt has the vision to be our long term half. Let's open the chequebook to him!

Giving him the halfback spot first might help.

I think the majority of us on here have always known about Hunt's ability, but he's a had a tough time displaying it - what with being employed as a bit part hooker, rather than in the halves.

He strikes me as being a much smarter player than McCullough - he has vision. Not having a dig at Macca, but one thing I noticed about Hunt last night was how vocal he was. Always barking instructions at his team-mates and making sure they were all in position for whatever play we were going to go with. He also seems to have a better understanding of when to put a kick in/when to pass/when to take a scoot than Macca... but that might just be because Macca's a wee bit selfish at times.

I have no idea if he can be our 'saviour' in the halves, but it'd be great to see him given a shot. Unfortunately, I don't think he'll even get a sniff.

We don't need a ball playing forward. We've got a few blokes capable of playing that role but that's not what the coach wants.

Then the coach had better start wanting it soon or our attack will lack variety given that last night it started to look like it is coming together out wide.

As for AP's comment that we need a ball playing back rower, we have one. A bloody good one in Gillett. Thing is, you can't be a ball player without the ball

Can we trade the current gillett out for this other one then? Hasn't been sighted in 12 months.

Neither have most of the side.

I'll let you know when we get a decent set of play makers who know how to set up their edge runners

Thurston and Cronk are pretty handy, that didn't stop gillett from being the worst on the field in the origin.

Pretty sure Taylor was even worse...

Besides, that was a year ago when Gillett was at his worst. I don't think he deserves any of the criticism this season, where he has been one of the better Broncos in every game.

I agree Porthoz, he's been playing solidly - moreso than last year IMO.

Ps Carney and Widdop will resign because they want to play with potential premiership teams....we can't offer that. We should have actually tried to sign thurston or cronk, but apparently norman and wallace were just too brilliant to let go. We need to unload some dead wood and use that money to buy 2 or 3 gun players. Use most of your cap on you top 10 players which should include your halves and your hooker and fullback.

If we can't offer a premiership team then, using your reasoning, going after JT and Cronk would have been pointless.

Unless they are Halfwits they would see that their addition would make the broncos a premiership team. If a team was already premiership material they wouldn't be looking to sign anyone, would they?

We can.

If they sign & we win, I can guarantee that we won't be stripped of a premiership.

Storm could still be rorting the cap & Cronulla could be stripped for 'drugs' etc.
