Agreed. At the same time, we have game breakers too, but they all went downhill when Lockyer retired and when JYY broke his leg.

IMO, Hodges, Gillett, Glenn, Hoffman (and JYY) were/are/can be game breakers, but not at the Broncos any more.

If Hasler or Bellamy had our squad for as long as he's had the Storm, for mine we would be in the top 4. I think we under-rate our talent ... except dummy half and FB

Man we blew it big time by rejecting Dugan

Was the "Dugan rumour" a rumour? Looked like we were serious ... no, we weren't. He didn't dress like a priest

There has only been two players ever that I have seen that tick all those boxes. One retired in 2011 and the other is trying his damn hardest to get back on the field in any compacity after one of the most horrific injuries I have seen

fair go ... the guy has been sacked from 18 clubs, was given a lifeline and is going "ok", and now is whinging in public about his contract ... greedy sums it up perfectly actually

he is not state of origin standard and ticks very few boxes actually

That's your opinion... I think he would be the kind of spark we need and to be completely honest I couldnt give a **** if hes whinging about his contract. "oh no, he is whinging about his contract boo hoo hoo". Look around, its not like we can be too choosey

Seriously? As pigskin said, he was on the scrapheap and Titans offered him a lifeline. 6 months later he has the hide to be bitching that he deserves more money?

FFS the guy should be on his knees before Cartright and thanking god he's anywhere near the NRL.

Don't want someone with that kind of attitude.

Plus he's not that good.

Unless they promised him more if he played well, and have now gone cold on it ?

broncos4life ... you have to distinguish between a quality SOO standard player that becomes available and a run of the mill player that becomes available

Kelly is a club player at best with like Coxy says and I alluded to "a questionable attitude", ticks a couple of things we need, but lacks more than he ticks

I think we can be choosey with regard to players of his calibre

Exactly. I was happy to give Dugan the benefit of the doubt despite him being a massive douchebag, because his ability on the field is something special. Unfortunately his douchebaggery couldn't be contained long enough to let the ink dry on a contract.

For a fringe player with a history like Kelly I wouldn't be so keen to risk it.
 
It'll be a non-event anyway.

I'm sure the Titans won't let him go.

Why does it need to be a SOO standard player. In case you haven't realised there are very few even half decent halves running around, and much less of them available.

As for being greedy, we have no idea the conditions of his contract, but I'm assuming there are conditions in is contract based on onfield and off field performance and if he met them he would receive an upgrade... I'm guessing the titans aren't coming through with the upgrade
 
It doesn't have to be a SOO player, but it's not until you get to a player of that calibre that you'd start accepting glaring attitude issues.

If we were in the position of say Melbourne or souths I'd agree...but when we are in the position at round 13 where a successful season from here is not winning the wooden spoon...can we really be that fussy?
 
This is only my personal opinion, but to me it doesn't matter whether we run 6th or last ... this season is almost written off now and I would like to see us use the remainder of this year to blood and build for the future

a diabolical finish to the season could see a cleanout of Ricky Stuart proportions and to me that wouldn't be so bad either

I say 6th because if you run 7th or 8th, you are most likely cannon fodder in week 1 of the finals anyway

Well, yes. Because spending big on a loose cannon like Kelly could well backfire and the only outcome is we've wasted cap space on a bloke to play Queensland Cup ... or worse.
