The old dogs hating on Bennett

We don't need a reluctant Lockyer as our head coach... And I think that Voss showed at the Lions that you need some form of apprenticeship before taking on the head coach of top squad. As well as the fact that it is difficult to coach players you have played with.

Great point. Coaching players you played with is fraught with danger. If Lockyer has any serious aspirations to coach Brisbane then I'm all for it...but not right now. I'm struggling to think of a coach that had success with the same team he played with. Look at Nathan Brown at the Dragons, Fittler at the Roosters, Wally as Origin coach, etc.

Locky needs to do an apprenticeship and wait for at least five years. Ten would be better.

Don't get me wrong - I'm not a fan of it either. And would like to think that after the Gasnier situation the guidelines would be changed to prevent it happening again (if they haven't already). But if it is within the rules, which it was in that instance, I don't think you can label it as cheating in any form. Against the spirit of the game yes, but not cheating.
You're technically right, because no rules are being broken, but I guess that to me it feels no different from cheating... hence calling it that.

Technically, he's not writing anything. If you see it here, it's typed. If it's something he's doing, then it's righted. :takdir:
Okay, what about when a person has written a script for a TV show or movie ? They're referred to as scriptwriters yet it's typed !!! Mmmm...pedantic aren't we lol:clap2:

I agree with AP on things more than most but I have to disagree that he inherited a great Dragons team. It amazes me still they won a competition. Their halves were Jamie Soward and Ben fucking Hornby. Just think about it. Ben Hornby a premiership winning halfback with Jamie Soward? They have to be the worst halves pair to have ever won a premiership.

Agree that he's done the Knights no favours though.

As for if he comes back as head coach, the key, key question is who will he mentor and groom to become our head coach. He did a great job tutoring Bellamy, if in his 2-3 years back with us he could mould another Bellamy who would actually take over this time I'm okay with that. I don't know if Kevvie is that man or not, but any return of Bennett needs a succession plan.

Such a shame that we didn't sign Cam Smith. He'd have been perfect.

For TV shows, if the entire writing staff write the script for the show, it's called gangbanging. Food for thought!

As soward is proving this year, hes a great halfback. Like many though he needs a good forward pack to perform. He had that at the dragons and he was one of the best in the comp. He didn't have one after Bennett took all his troops to the knights. Hes got it again at the panthers and he's playing great footy.

Painfully I agree with the Bennett hating AP on the Gasnier thing. Definitely cheating legally no matter which words you use. AP appears to be a bright guy although more in the way of an EvilMastermind ! If only he'd dedicate himself to writing good ! ( Righting ? )
Writing well Huge , writing well.

He's above average, but he's a long way short of great.

Cooper Cronk, JT, Andrew Johns. Those are great halfbacks.

Brett Kimmorley, Matt Orford, Scott Prince. Those are good halfbacks.

Soward is in neither tier. He's well above the Wallace tier though.

To be fair, Shane Perry is probably a worse premiership winning half than Hornby. But that's the only one he's ahead of. And Perry had a legend of the game at five-eight. Hornby had Soward, who I cannot re-iterate enough, is NOT a great halfback.

Aye.

To put it into perspective, Jamie Soward couldn't even dislodge Ben Rogers the season before.

Ben freakin' Rogers!

Under Bennett, Soward was the form five eighth of the entire competition and I'd dare say Hornby was the form halfback in the year they won the premiership. Prince ended up getting the nod, but I always felt like it was based on talent as opposed to actual performance.

For mine, their roster wasn't any different to the one he inherited from the Knights. The difference was, he just couldn't strike lightening twice.

Psst, Ricky Stuart once dropped Thurston for Hornby.

Yes, I was quite aware that grammatically it was poor but it was also intentional. It was more along the lines of hoping AP could dedicate his life to 'good' rather than 'evil'....you know, the evil mastermind thing. Generally I try to write, type good, err I mean well

Yeah, because Neville Costigan and Alex McKinnon were the entire St George Illawarra pack in 2010.

DEAL IS DONE FOR THE MESSIAH TO RETURN....... (ONLY THING THAT WILL STOP HIM IS A LAST MINUTE CHANGE LIKE HE DID AT THE ROOSTERS)

He types well but he doesn't well![/QUOTE]
I tried, honestly but I went to the page with dozens and dozens of the little fuckers and when I clicked on it , it just wouldn't highlight or attach to the message ! I am crap at the computer though, hard to believe I operate machinery with at least 8 on board computers and worth tens of millions !

Understandable. I found out about five years ago that using Shift F8 in a certain program at work allows us to search for very specific tests but apparently I was the only person who has know about that despite some people using this program for well over 10 years! And it's not like it's a hidden function, it mentioned was on the bloody screen! Sometimes there is just a blind spot.

Poor ol' Sticky. He could have told the truth and admitted he was just using the game to try out different combinations but I think he publicly called JT out.

Worst part was the selection he made when Lyon went down in that match. Think the team looked like...

1. Hornby
4. Hunt
7. Berrigan

Until he came to his senses and just pushed Berro out there. Looking at the clip again, went alright too - put GI away down the left hand corner.
