I think both moga and Milford proved they can tackle when they use their shoulders to drive in. It's when they go for the grab or high hug technique they get burned.

Everyone who is criticising Moga's defensive efforts are completely overlooking the fact he was working with a completely new edge combination with Mead and Glenn coming in for Oates and Thaiday. That changes a lot, especially with timing, communication and positioning, not just for Moga, but the whole defensive unit.

In the first miss, that was not at all Moga's fault, and in fact, he did well just to make an attempted tackle. Moga and Mead were actually marked up against four Roosters because the defenders inside them let them down. The inside defence just got the numbers wrong, and it was a simple overlap with Keary taking the right option with the short ball. If anything, Milford should of committed to Keary earlier, then Moga could of come in to shut down the play, with Mead following him in as well in case it went out the back.

Regardless, I must say Boyd wasn't positioned very well and in the end made a pretty lousy attempt to stop Aubusson.

As for the second miss, that once again comes down to the new defensive combination as a result of the lineup change. The players on Moga's inside were way too compressed due to the previous play the ball, but they didn't react and slide when the Rooster's shifted the ball. Instead they momentarily planted their feet, which meant Milford was a little late in getting to Keary, creating the overlap which allowed Fergusson to get on the outside shoulder of Moga, and from that position he is always pretty hard to stop. I will say though that Moga made a poor defensive choice to go high because in that situation he needed to go low around the legs.

One of the true highlights of the game.........kahu trolling everyone by chasing the short kick off.
Almost certain he was faking it up with the last kick too... "shit I missed, better pretend I hurt my foot or something". A minute later, no hint of a problem.

Will be looking differently at every troll on BHQ from now on!

NRL said the refs fucked up last night disallowing the Hunt try.

Little comfort to us now. What if a **** up like that costs a team a spot in the finals?

The refs need to be held accountable. Not just slapped on the wrist.

Yep I'm sick of them coming in and saying they fucked up and then do nothing about it.

Whoever fucked up needs to be sitting out same as the players.

Of course the issue with holding a ref/touchie accountable is them then deciding they won't make any calls in the future to avoid criticism. This is where Archer or whoever is in charge needs to be clamping down on missed calls as well as wrong calls

Fucking facebook. The various news agencies start to report that the NRL has acknowledged the stuff up......peoples responses? "The Broncos still won so people should just get over it" Really? You **** nuts are fine with shithouse decisions like that? Yes the Broncos won but what if due to the ***** getting the ball, they score a try and go on a roll? It's great that it didn't cost a team a victory but ignoring it is just next level potato.

So not sure if anyone else noticed this. But early on the commentators were praising mead for coming across to cover fullback after Boyd made that try saving tackle on the 20-30m line. Good play and great cover he ended up cleaning up the kick and made a few meters from it. But Milford was the one that noticed nobody was home at the back and barked out the order to mead to get back there and cover it.

Just a little passage in play that I thought was terrific. From the try saver from boyd to the cover from mead and the quick thinking of milf.

Roosters fans telling Broncos fans to "stop whinging", while whinging about the calls against the Roosters and the Tupou no try.

Not a bright bunch.

So back to a 4 forward bench then ?

That would make the logic of playing Kodi off the bench yesterday curious?

Question then becomes who plays in the halves, along with who makes way for Oates

You'd imagine so, we don't really have anyone else who fits the bill of a "utility" under contract.

Korbin also got scans on his ankle this afternoon, we'll probably find out the severity tomorrow, I imagine he'll miss a week or two as well. Could have a very different bench heading in to this game.

I wouldn't be shocked if Oates starts on the bench, this could be the perfect time to transition him to the back row.

1. Boyd (c)
2. Mead
3. Roberts
4. Moga
5. Kahu
6. Milford
7. Nikorima
8. Ese'ese
9. McCullough
10. Blair
11. Glenn
12. Gillett
13. McGuire

14. Oates
15. Pangai Jr
16. Thaiday
17. Arrow

Potentially..
