NEWS Broncos star’s horrific fall from grace

One of Seibold's biggest mistakes is going all in with rookies. Henjak did the same thing when he started, we ended up struggling partially due to large amounts of inexperience, and he ended up getting fired before realising his vision.

The only problem is that we have even more rookies now than in 2009, and no players like Lockyer, Hodges or Parker to help lead the way.
I don't think he really has any other option. Huge chunks of our cap were being taken up with players that were just not performing, and if what he says is right that we were not under the cap he had to get rid of some of the older guys in order to keep the future up and coming players. The older guys had their chance and did not produce the ultimate prize. So move them on while getting us cap compliant.

The Broncos board insist publicly that there is no rebuild happening, but blind freddy can see a complete overhaul and rebuild was needed and Siebs has set about doing it.

At present he does not have the cash to bring in anyone of substance, so his only option at the moment is stick with Mr Bean at fullback and Macca at 9 and hope they nurture the colts.

It's plain to see though that both are just teaching our young guys bad habits so best to **** them off.

Of course there is the danger of some of our young colts being ruined by being brought in too early, but the present situation is really a rock and a hard place. Siebs is sort of damned if he does and damned if he doesn't.

I still wish him all the best of luck coz he's going to need it.

Apparently when teams don't play well it's the coach. So when Bennett was winning premierships he was greatest coach ever, but last year Broncos were total shit and anyone who's forgotten all the games we forgot to turn up to need their head read. So last year Bennet was shit. This year we are even worse so Siebs is shitter. But last year he took the rabbits right to the brink so Siebs was amazing. Doesn't matter how many injuries a team gets, whether they're blowing the cap, whether they're stuck with a pair of broken vertebrae in the spine, or whether they've got players who've just had babies and are playing with slippery baby shit all over their fingers. None of that matters cause it's the coach. I'd hedge a bet that the ultra opinionated heil Bennett wired ***** on here have never even felt a footy in their hands let alone played under different coaches with varying levels of skilled players around them and therefore don't understand all the ingredients required to make a decent footy team and find form. Back in your crates lads, muzzle up and go watch home and away re-runs while the big boys watch their footy.

I dont get what your point is. He was doing well at Souths. He walked into a job with a ready made side that needed just tweaking. I'm not surprised they wanted to keep him. He did well in his first year.

At Brisbane, he has decided to rip apart a fairly good, if inconsistent team and made us far worse than last year. If his souths side was performing as well as we are currently going, do you think they would still have wanted to keep him?
It made me laugh when I read you claiming Broncos under Bennet’s charge since 15 a fairly good team?

If we are talking about the same Broncos, then 4,5 years with no title equals failure, then we should rebuild the whole team not just do small adjustments to the team.

Under Bennet’s coach, according to what you said, given Bennet a couple more years while we could keep watching how Seibold achieving in Souths?

First of all, You admit Bennet’s team won’t win title given the fact you call “inconsistent “, so you waste another two years for what? See out Boyd&Macca contract? Cheering for we made to the final but got sent home in the first week?

Secondly, isn’t this kind of cliche hesitation cost us the chance of getting Bellamy? So what, if Seibold doesn’t do well in Souths, you’re glad you made the right decision, what if he pulled that out? Then souths under Seibold; Storm under Bellamy? I’m not talking about Seibold is going to be good coach, but I do like discuss all kinds of possibilities.

We are not informed to all discussions and decisions or positions behind closed doors. Anyone with a football or management brain can see the debacle the squad was left in. Seibs is cleaning up the mess. Its going to be painful while politics plays out - but the long game is often the best game.

You think seibold got the job by presenting that he was going to gut the team and run 14th? He’s been an abject failure. This isn’t about Bennett, it’s about seibolds ineptitude which is on full display but you blokes just can’t get over the fact you’ve fallen for it.

The board won’t even let him make his own decisions lol
how smarts the board then when he wants to drop numpty Boyd.

The point being we are not the only club that thinks he is a decent coach...

Maybe if it was just us, we got it wrong. When it is multiple clubs, people should start to wonder if that thinking is wrong, or something else is...

Or they would if they were intellectually honest.

That was based on last year though, not what he is doing now. Wonder if the same opinion is held now. All we can do is see how things pan out.

Yep, we were a decent side under Bennett, and we were a better side under Wayne than we currently are under Seibold. That's not even debatable, look at the results. You are kidding yourself if you think we weren't a fairly good side under Bennett's second spell.

And i dont know where i admitted we wouldnt win the title, you made that up, i said we were inconsistent. You are also presuming because we were inconsistent last year we would have followed suit this year. Nobody knows if we would have been or not, and we will never know.

As for Bellamy, he just preferred Melbourne to Brisbane. It's a totally different situation trying to recruit him from there where he has a lot of ties than getting Seibold out of South's where he doesnt have the same attachment. He couldn't wait to jump ship to us.

Going by the fact that Seibold was given a 5 year contract it is reasonable to assume that the board new all this work needed to be done and are prepared to give Seibold the time to do the work and see through the results from it.

If this really was a squad that was ready to win as some seem to believe he doesn't get a 5 year deal. It is a 2 year, or 3 year max deal to achieve or **** off.

Agree.
Wayne fought tooth and nail for an extra year. Clearly knowing it was going to take more then this year for a successful out come.

So he did go in there and say I'm going to gut the team and lead the club to their worst ever season?

He really is a good salesman.

I'm not sold on Seibold one bit tbh. My gut feeling is we have got a dud and he cant handle the size of the job here in Brisbane. If we finish bottom 2, i'd sack him quite honestly. In saying that, i think he should get next year to see what he can do, but if we start badly i think he will be gone.

On the surface it looks like Seibold cannot get the best out of his men, which I would have thought is a huge part of the coach's job. But it is pretty clear there are shenanigans afoot here. I would go so far as to suggest player sabotage and "white anting", which could well be karma coming around for Seibold if what they say about him white-anting MacGuire at Souths is true.

Probably expected to be building towards a 2020 premiership this year not cutting the club off at the knees and wallowing in 14th spot

Can anyone agrue that the side was not in decline pre Seibold.
Some hard decisions needed to be made, Some harder decisions stilll need to be made, but this was always going to be the case no matter who was coaching.

That's an excellent question, and tbh, I don't know the answer. Obviously, we had players in decline, but would the team as a whole be performing as poorly as it is now? I highly doubt it would.

For mine this is beside the point. For this team to actually be a premiership contender major changes needed to be made. Due to the incredible high salaries of underperforming players these changes have caused a lot of immediate damage.

If fans would prefer endless seasons of making up the numbers then I can understand why they are so upset. Clearly the club as a whole wasn't happy to go on like that.

I suppose we will learn next year if all the pain of this year is what we need right now to move forward.
