NEWS Pursuit over as Broncos finally get their man

This is a big if, but if they can get rid of Asiata ( looking at the heading to the gold coast ) and Granville ( looks like he could head to Manly ), dont re-sign Martin, then all of a sudden its not looking out of the realms of possibility, especially if Cooper retires at the end of 2020 and they could top up his contract then as well.

Sounds risky to me. That sounds like a lot of offloads for 2 players. What are they doing about depth? Banking on plenty of juniors like we are?

They already have the money for Holmes. Those others would free up money for Mitchell. They have enough decent youngsters coming through. Granville they can afford to let go because they have Cotter and Robson. Asiata they can afford to lose as they have the likes of Hola and especially Gilbert ( who is going to be an absolute star ) coming through. Martin would have been flat out making their side anyway. Cant see a lot of risk tbh.

I don't see it happening myself. They can't both play fullback and I'd imagine there would be a major clash of egos before too long. Will just be Val to the cows. Latrell could go to a number of clubs but won't be to NQ.

Thats where i think it would fall down. They both want to be fullback.

Mitchell 5/8 next to Morgan ?
It’s a bad idea but it could be their thinking.

Cowboys about to sign Latrell and Holmes and 90% of this forum are jizzing themselves over Brodie f***ing Croft.

Oh how we have fallen

We'll still finish above them even if that happens. Their pack is shit. For the sake of argument, how the hell can they fit in four million dollar players (JT13, Morgan, Holmes, LM)?

EDIT: Croft is already better than Morgan as a HB (in terms of being an actual half back. Morgan is a running 5/8 if he has a dominant half like JT next to him otherwise he's a centre or maybe a full back. His run to the GF in '17 has proven to be a fluke if we look at the past two years) and the Cows are paying him a mil a season lmao. Imagine LM and Morgan in the halves and Holmes at FB, they'd be running around like headless chooks in attack. It'd be worse than the infamous Boyd/ Turpin pairing imo because at least the spine had Milf.

As good as both Latrell and Holmes are, and in a different situation, I would love to have either of them. BUT, neither would solve our current, major problem - that being a competent halfback to direct the team around the park. We could have Usain Bolt on the wing but there would be no point if we can't get the ball to him at the right time, ala 2018/19.

This problem is now solved, thanks to some clever recruiting by Seibs to snare a young, NRL-experienced halfback from the Melbourne system for a relatively low price. Maybe over the next year or 2, when we have our salary cap back under control with a wad of cash to spend, someone of the ilk of Latrell, Holmes, or dare I say it, (the best player in the world for the next decade) Kalyn Ponga, will be within our reach. Now that we have Brodie to steer us around, such an elite player will not be wasted in our team as they would have been had we not just snared such a talented young half.

Yep, this is the type of signing the rorters would make, and they did with Flanno jr. They're letting LM walk because they appreciate that your best paid players need to have the most impact on the field and LM is the laziest bloke I've ever seen in the NRL.

I mentioned this in the Junior Kangaroos game, but how sick is it going to be having Milford, Bird & Fifita on one edge with Croft, Staggs & TPJ on the other, assuming that's who we start with, that's going to be insanely damaging on both sides.

Add to that Oats, Isaako, Farnsworth and Coates sniffing around with good ball given to them.
Add to that Glenn, Haas and Carrigan/Flegler in defense.
Add to that Turps at hooker.

Ahhhh rugby league :D

I hope that is their thinking ... Because if it is we should get on the phone to Drinkwater

Oh how we have fallen

We’ve needed a genuine halfback for a long time and now we’re getting one. He may not be a superstar yet but this team doesn’t need it, we need role players to do the job. Without a halfback even getting a latrell or Holmes would mean jack shit to our results. So I’m not so much jizzing yet but I’m edging closer to a pre-cum.

That’s a pretty formidable backline. Shame they don’t have a decent coach there anymore.
If all true, he would be pretty good at recruiting tho

If we have Croft, Seibold should be commended. In less than 12 months, he has moved on overpaid / underperforming players like McGuire, Kahu (albeit only for 1 year), Nikorima, Sua and Roberts, and been able to retain all of our young up and coming stars. Bringing in Segeyaro was a good option and what we needed, albeit short lived, and bringing in Croft who is a solid halfback, despite having about $1.3 million in cap wasted by Boyd and Macca, and about $2m if you include Bird.

If injuries are kind to us in 2020, we will be a top 8, maybe top 4 squad. But 2021, when we are able to play without the likes of Boyd and Macca, I think we could really push for the premiership.

On a side note, what’s happening with segeyaro?

Humour me, here: what is this "agenda" thing you seem to be worried about? How is it different from an opinion?
Your constant criticism of Seibold and the club and promotion of Bennett no matter what either of them do, to the point where you are becoming a broken record.

In reality you are trolling, nothing more.

yeah, because we need a proper halfback more than anything else. A superstar fullback would be great, but it still won’t fix our halves problem.

Signing a genuine halfback just might...
