Wow, take the NRL to court. That is not legal.

Yeah that’s what I thought. And when you consider NSW had Gavin Badger working with them and was in the NSW coaching box during Game 1, it makes this even worse.

It’s like they think they are the Mafia and above the law.

Threatening family members of the individual if the individual doesn’t comply..?

They’ve screwed the pooch on this one.

Just this one?

Isn't Gavin Badger part of the Blues coaching team? Could have sworn I saw him in the coaches box with a NSW polo on jumping up after a NSW try like a little schoolgirl.
He also works with the Tigers, pretty sure he's employed by them. Sits in the coaches box with Maguire.

What I mean is that this makes them extremely vulnerable, with no chance of recourse if challenged.

The rest of their deplorable behaviour has thus far been controlled to be unchallengeable, whereas this one sits out like a zit on the tip of your nose.

I take your point but I think when you say controlled, a better word might be silenced or phrased ‘shouted down’

I mean when PVL looks like the Wish version of a Mafia don and was in charge of the racing industry, it’s not surprising behaviour

Absolutely it's legal. It's a very large conflict of interest, and the NRL are absolutely right to say that his brother can't ref if his brother is working for one of the teams.

I’m gonna disagree on that one. They are falsely accusing them of collusion.

No they're not. They're pointing out a conflict of interest that can't be allowed. It's risk mitigation, not accusations. Conflict of interest is one of the first things trained in business, and in the biggest boldest letters at the top of the page it says "AVOID HOLY SHIT AVOID"

Which is true if you didn’t have other refs helping clubs and in fact, NSW. It may be a legit conflict of interest but you can’t have one rule for one group but different rules for everyone else.

But hey, this is the NRL, so competency and legitimacy are not guilty by association.

You might have an argument here until you look at past behaviours - referees working with clubs pre season, ex players in bunkers deciding on games their old clubs are involved in, etc.

what difference does it make if the brother is in there or not? the nrl are gonna do everything they can to swing it in QLD's way so they can get their decider and raise more revenue

Also, I don't think we should be using normal professional business standards, methodology and implementation with current NRL administration.

No professional organisation is run as a dictatorship with no consultation with key stakeholders and/or makes up policies and procedures based on what they ate for breakfast and then comes out and talks down people raising legit concerns with no respect and / or understandable justification...except Vlandysball.

Just wondering is that applied to your most recent employment ;)

It did, and does. She's not my manager on paper, the last two team leader intakes she hasn't been able to be involved in employing her own staff, she can't approve my bonus, she can't hold my reviews, can't hold any serious meetings with me, and is not able to make decisions about me.

You can't mitigate the risk with a league match where the ref and emotional bias is involved.
