Allan Langer charged with drink-driving

No, I did not take it as an insult huge, I was just taking the opportunity of being a bit silly with my post about hamsters.

Does anyone else click "mark forums read" when they see the last post is from Huge?

Firstly I'll deal with how I view myself and my capacity to reason and understand. It's true I have above average intelligence and above average abilities. These observations are not mine but the view of the many who have tested me. That being the case it follows that there are many who feel inadequate when engaging with me. This inadequacy cannot be blamed on me because it is caused by an unflattering but accurate self evaluation.

Secondly, my views are seldom a rant. They are very nicely expressed, considered and well written. No surprise there.

Thirdly, I do not insult those who respond in a thinking manner. I also do not insult others for self-aggrandisement. I have no need for such banality. For some it is the lingua franca , the bridge between us if you like.

Fourthly , I am able to differentiate between what I'd like to believe is a widespread and commonly held belief and with the common view actually held.

Lastly I will point out the blatantly obvious ( for the reason most bright ones amongst you will appreciate ) and say, justice for Allan Langer will be decided by fully matured people not by some inexperienced reactionaries . Although you (picture yourself here if you like, make it personal, get angry and hostile) disagree and want to make it an emotive, confused and ill-considered response cool heads (unlike yours) will decide his fate.

You people call them old people, I call them contemporarys.

You mean contemporaries.

lmao

I re-read my earlier contributions and concede I was derogatory in my generalisations. I perhaps should be more restrained. That said I take nothing back concerning my views about Alfies offence and his trial by media and public alike.

Who cares what you think Meat77 ??

I would suggest those of us that would rather read what the topic is supposed to be about rather than pompous dribble might care?

I thought the admins were supposed to be cracking down on this or was I mistaken?

Pull_Shark..you must be easily amused then but like all sharks you just have to bite if the burley and bait is good enough. It's been pointed out on this forum so many times that nobody bothers anymore about the correct use of grammar . I had so hoped to catch many more but ones enough I suppose. Nice bite.

If you look hard enough you may even find another one or two errors. Were we to check all the contributors for errors doubtless my mistake rate would be less than most. That would make me what ?? above average lol

Topics do tend to meander but aside from some spirited defence of my own good self it has been overwhelmingly about Allan Langer and his punishment whatever form that may take.

To be fair there is only a small amount of Admins and they do have jobs and a life outside here.

easily amused by those who purport to be on a higher plane than others, just because they ARE. :D

I completely understand that but I would also suggest I'm not alone in not wanting to get bogged down reading about someone's opinion on their own and others intellects constantly. The shame of it all is that when Huge decides not to stroke his own ego he can occasionally make a salient point

Perhaps if everyone ignored him then he might get bored and go away quietly?? Just a thought.

My only issue with your post/s was the way you expressed your opinion, not the opinion itself. I don't necessarily agree with you (or disagree for that matter, I'm fully aware that my love of Alf precludes me from forming an unbiased opinion, which is why I had not participated in this conversation until that point) but I understand your reasoning. Leave out all the crap and most will take you seriously.

And with that, I declare this issue closed. Any further discussion will be as per the topic heading.

i let it go on because it was like watching a train wreck :)

Also quick heads up, if you find something that pisses you off in a thread just report it. The report button is there, click it and fill out blank space and submit. All will be looked at. Now enough of kissing each others arses back to the public stoning of Alfie.

No-one knows what he has written into his contract, so it's all speculation at this point. Because if it's written into his contract then he can't do anything and should've known better.

QUEENSLAND rugby league great Allan Langer has been fined and has lost his licence, but has escaped a conviction for drink-driving.

Langer, 43, faced the Brisbane Magistrates Court today where he pleaded guilty to a charge of drink-driving.

He was fined $1000 and disqualified from driving for eight months, but his lawyer successfully argued that Langer's coaching career would be seriously affected if a conviction was recorded.

Is it just me, or is this pathetic?! Who cares who he is, or what he does for a living. He was 3 times over and couldve easily killed someone! Just because he is a coach he gets off? Wtf. $1000 is a pathetic fine.

I dont see how what job you have should affect the punishment, its stupid
