Anyone else keen to put one of these boots into AP's face with one of the tags going into his eye to show him how dangerous it could be??

pretty sure that the tackling in the air rule is actually a new rule AP

Is it? I can't remember now, I thought you were never allowed to tackle a player mid-air.

Since 2001.

Queenslander, maybe you are thinking about the kicker contact rule?

They aren't allowed to be metal are they?

So if the NRL are so determined to bring the Storm down AP - explain the Hayne-Slater Rule. A rule desgined to HELP Slater do one of the things he does best in bringing the ball back.
Keyword - Hayne.

leading with the bottom of your foot would be dangerous, but thats not what Billy Slater nor any fullback worth his paycheck would do. sliding like that would result in more damage to yourself, as your spikes would dig into the ground and youd go nowhere fast. the aim is to get the foot sideways so you can slide it under the ball/ball carrying arm. you know, exactly like how he stopped the certain try to Ben Hannant that wouldve got the Broncos into the 2008 grand final instead of the Storm (although looking back im sure he wished he didnt save that one [icon_lol1. )

he saved lots of tries using this technique, and NEVER, and i repeat NEVER even remotely injured a single player.

no, the keyword is Hayne. the NRL knows that Hayne gets bums on seats and jerseys on backs, so they want to promote him as much as they can. a good highlight real of their latest poster boy matters more to them than you seem to realise.

Er, no champ.

It's quite easy to slide with your studs up and showing. They get stuck in the ground? Hahahahaha, that's bullshit. Don't make stuff up.

The whole process is extremely dangerous and can severely damage someone. Sliding at the pace Slater does with his studs showing, at someone who is concentrating on grounding the ball, is a dog act.

Melbourne have been BETTER than their record suggests. they deserved to win the 2006 GF, not us, and only poor refereeing stopped them.

and how anyone can call a team that has Slater, Inglis, (had) Folau, etc 'boring' i dont know. have you ever actually watched a storm game? if you think theyre boring, i guess the Broncos sides of 1998 and 2000 were mind-numbing to watch.....

although half of you probably werent even watching rugby league back then.

AP -

Slater and Inglis are great to watch I'll admit that - and the Storm rely on them as well (esp Slater) and they provide something different than the methodical style of play they are known for.

Their "style" of play is boring - they are predictable and you just know what they are going to do... I hate the Eels to but I did enjoy watching them play towards the end of last year...

I also said winning is never boring...

The rule is just as much about Slater as it is about Hayne - in fact Slater returns the ball back better than Hayne, so a good highlight reel of him is just as valuable.

Speaking of NRL poster boys - that was Inglis at this time last year, yes Inglis - a Storm player. But I suppose the NRL somehow conjured up the fight between him and his girlfriend as another way to bring the Storm down.

And that you are not always right seems to be something that it is impossible for you to realise, so I'm not wasting any more of my time on this discussion.

However, the Melbourne Storm, the team you have been cumming over for the last 4 years, are probanly the best in the competition at bending the rules as much as they can to get a win. Half of the rule changes were BECAUSE of the Melbourne Storm doing things on the field that were never in the spirit of the game of rugby league.

The Storm are not cheaters, but they are as close to cheaters as you can get.

He who interprets the rules best, wins. There is no shame in this

Besides, Allan Langer was personally responsible for not one but two rule changes - the stripping rule and the rule regarding bringing an opponent down with the leg.

And I bet no one was ever calling him a dirty player because of it. Some would say he was an innovator and using the rules to his advantage.

Gus Gould??

There's this thing called "spirit of the game"

Also, how sweet was it watching Melbourne go down last night - they were so damn dirty about it!!! Did anyone Finch afterwards - what a bitch - he was all "But we're Melbourne, we don't get calls go against us??? How dare the refs penalise us!!!! They are all so damn arrogant -

it was nice seeing them not get every damn call for once! - really nice!!! - never thought I'd support the titans, but I said that about para and there I was cheering for them too in the GF. Guess the saying has to change from "favourite team is the Broncos and whoever is playing Manly, to whoever is playing Melbourne.

Melbourne Storm, what a bunch of losers, seriously - losers
