He is in a prime position to make a stand though... It's not like he didn't have other options to choose from!
If I'm in Mals position, I don't give a shit about taking a stand. I'm being paid to beat the Kiwis and then other comers. Results will get me rehired, not taking a stand when the decision has already been made that Semi is eligible.

For the record, I don't think Semi should be able to play for Australia, by the way.

It's people like Mal who do need to take a stand, regardless of what the idiots in the game do.

Besides, I doubt Australia would be much worse off by having Oates on the wing instead of Radradra, not that it should make a difference.

Although I think Semi should be playing for Fiji I don't think it's Mal's place to essentially veto agreed upon eligibility criteria and overturn Radrada's decision to play for Australia. The eligibility criteria need a bit of tuning and pay scales should definitely be equal across all the nations but if a player is eligible under the criteria of the time nobody should be able to override their decision.

He doesn't have to overturn it, just pick say, Oates instead of Semi. No-one can put up a good argument that we'd be worse with Oates there instead of Semi. If Semi was clearly the best option then maybe fair enough, but when it's neck and neck?

Mal has put a lot of people off-side saying how bullshit it is. Would people have been as upset had Semi NOT been picked? Doubt it. That alone, for mine, makes it the wrong decision.

Unless Mal's not getting Oates injured in what will likely be a highly-aggressive game against the Kiwis so he's fresh for Origin... :spy:

I think Australia win this game. Not enough Kiwi players have been playing well enough. They are pretty much where we are at seeing they played and lost their last series without their halves. Go Australia!

McGuire better hope to god the MRC think nothing of his tackle.

But, considering they have been charging everyone else for it, I highly doubt he will get off.

If he gets charged, that's his chance to play for Australia over.

If he's out for that then Gallen is out for a blatant elbow to McGuire and then multiple punches to his face.

So Roberts not picked?? I'm VERY happy about it but are nsw selectors really that stupid not to have him under consideration?

Players usually get better once they play rep footy. In that way it would be good for him to be selected.

I have a real problem calling city-country rep footy. It is usually whoever hasn't been pulled out vs whoever else hasn't been pulled out. I remember a few years ago when Darcy Lussick (I think it was him) was being shopped around, he was looking for considerably increased dollars because according to his manager, he was now a 'rep' forward. Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiight.
