Re: The Wayne Bennett Super thread!
I'm already hard for Bennett
I'm already hard for Bennett
I'm already hard for Bennett
Is this pic and your avatar the same person?
god i hope not ... the NYC is one of the most useless comps fro developing players ... we need to move him to the ISC as soon as we can
And no winger has come and taken it off him.
As said above, I was confused with Inglis, who was the guy who won the Clive Churchill in the 5/8 spot.
Regardless, most of his career honours have been due to his cushy ride next to Inglis on the wing, which is where he belongs imo.
I don't rate Boyd as a fullback. He can catch bombs, is a strong ball runner and can execute Wayne's second man play well... but that's it. I'm not even sure I rate him ahead of Hoffman, much less Barba or Milford, because although he's a bit better attacker than Josh, he's a much worse defender.
Of course we all have favourites, but I don't think that's the point here...
Besides Barba, Milford and Hoffman competing for 2 spots, we also have the Nikorima boys coming through, and while I'm not too fussed about losing Kodi, I would be filthy if we lost Jayden was well because Darius and Wayne are inseparable!
Sure, keep telling yourself that...
The only reason Jayden has been playing relief hooker, is to toughen him up in defense, like they did with Hunt.
Boyd is only 27, so if he is fullback by decree, there are only 2 spots for the likes of Hunt, Milford, Barba, Taylor and both Nikorimas. Tell me again how that doesn't influence keeping Jayden.
How is he a fullback by decree?
He is a hooker, maybe a half and can fill in at fullback. We have even had people on here that know a lot more about the NYC than others tell us that he is earmarked to take over at hooker from Macca if Macca doesn't take his game to the next level.
You can convince ourself that Boyd will have an impact on Jayden, but he won't.
According to the Chris Garry the Broncos view Jayden as a fullback.

I don't really care what he is viewed as ... surely we can all agree that the kid is a talent that should be retained at all costs
Literally nobody is saying otherwise.
I also think that Boyd (literally a player we have no need for) could take up the cap space that is needed to retain him after 2015
Doubt it
Bennett will have culled more of this squad by the end of next year.
WB has a good record of bringing through young players at this club. I cannot see what your problem is
