I don't really care what he is viewed as ... surely we can all agree that the kid is a talent that should be retained at all costs

No one is disagreeing with this. I have massive raps on the kid and would be very disappointed if he isn't retained.

All I and others are saying he is a hooker/half and as such if he was lost it would have nothing to do with Boyd. Anyone saying different is using it to push an agenda imho

Bennett will have culled more of this squad by the end of next year.
WB has a good record of bringing through young players at this club. I cannot see what your problem is

Foordy's problem is the club hired WB. To support his anger at the decision, every single post will either be a straight out slagfest or varying degrees of subtle insult or slander but always intended to denigrate the man or the clubs decision. He is incapable of reasoned thought.

My problem is quite simple we are going to have a player we have absolutely no need for taking up cap space that could be used for players in position we do have a need for.

and the only reason we are going to be getting Boyd is because Bennett takes him everywhere and then gives him the position he wants ... regardless of his form in said position or the clubs strength in that position.

No need for? The kid is a few years off anyway. In that time we have no idea what we will need. He looks to be developing as a hooker and if Macca continues to stagnate (and as the biggest pusher of the macca is awesome agenda around here, even I can say I have concerns) Jayden will be needed in that position.

these people started of telling me not to worry that if Bennett brought Boyd to the club it would only be as a winger.

Now that he has said he wants Boyd to come to the club to be his fullback, they have changed their stance to just blindly support that decision. it doesn't matter if he makes the stupidest selection possible, they will just blindly support it.

No matter how bad Barba has been, Boyd has been significantly worse. His 3 years at the Knights was pathetic. Barba won the Dally M Player of the Year in that time.

I think the reason that Milford didn't look as good at Five-Eighth for the Raiders was their lack of good players.. he had to work with a spine of something like.. Buttriss, McCrone, Rapana?

Compare that to McCullough, Hunt, Boyd.. I think it's glaringly obvious which spine would give him quality enough ball and support to excel at Five-Eighth.

But Milford still looked exceptional while playing Fullback, so why move him from his best position?

Boyd has done a good job on the wing for Qld and Australia, however a lot of that has to go down to the fact he's been playing outside of GI. Boyd has scored a lot of tries but I'm sure at least half of those have been on the back of GI doing the hard work.

someone did the hard work this year - something like 10 of his ~12 tries in Origin before this year were less than 10m runs and untouched lol. Boyds try scoring in Origin is no reflection of how good he is, it's a reflection of how good Inglis is.

There is the heart of the problem with you Foordy...you actually think you know what all other posters think, you generalise and include all other posters that are at odds with you and your views ,somehow deluding yourself that these other posters all believe the exact same thing. First things first, as far as I know Boyd has not signed with Brisbane, yet. If he does then we can decide if we like the idea or not but surely we would have to see some results from season 2015 BEFORE deciding whether or nor it was a good signing !!! It is impossible and grossly stupid to call it the stupidest selection possible when it hasn't even happened !!!!

Secondly, unless you weren't watching, we played the semis and several games with Hodges at fullback ! Surely that indicates to you that we have a real problem at fullback which can be fixed easily with a seasoned and proven State of Origin standard, international player who loves the place and loves his coach and would probably never have left. We played one of the worst defenders in bronco history at fullback ( within the role of fullback, he is a better centre ) That to me says we need a good fullback.

I have stated my position on WB in numerous threads. My thoughts are we should have moved on from Bennett not gone back to him but i still believe Boyd is a better choice at fullback than Barba and Hoffman with Milford at 5/8 so dont crap on about me arguing the point because i am a WB lover

If you read my post properly I didn't call Boyd (at fullback) the stupidest selection possible (although it wouldn't be the smartest selection given the squad we have at our disposal next year). what i said was that it appears (well that was implied) that IF Bennett made the stupidest selection possible, then the Bennett supporters would blindly support it.

Secondly Milford should be our fullback in 2015. it is his best position at this stage of his career. it would also be best for our team if he plays in that position ion 2015. a move to the halves may eventuate for him... but IMHO, It is best for us (and Milford's career) if he spends at least the next couple of seasons at the back ... similar to the path, our greatest ever player, took.

How is he a fullback by decree?

He is a hooker, maybe a half and can fill in at fullback. We have even had people on here that know a lot more about the NYC than others tell us that he is earmarked to take over at hooker from Macca if Macca doesn't take his game to the next level.

You can convince ourself that Boyd will have an impact on Jayden, but he won't.

He's the current Queensland fullback from this year in the Under 18's, he was the Australian School Boys 6/7 last year.

He's played 6 this year for the Broncos and at fullback and then started coming off the bench later in the year around the Sharks game and playing a bit of hooker.

I can't see how he is definitely a hooker- he has been good since taking up the utility role but I wouldn't say his position is set yet.

If he personally sees himself as a full-back and wants to play there, as he has done this year for Queensland then Boyd would impact on him.

How do you know what his best position is? It could be either of them, he looked amazing at the Raiders at fullback because he didn't have to rely on team mates as much, it was all individual brilliance, in a good squad with a great spine, he may actually prove to be a better Five-Eighth.

The Problem is, that with Macca giving him the service, by the time he gets the ball, the defence will be in his face. until either Macca learns to give better service from dummy half, or we get a hooker capable of giving good service from dummy half, i think we'd be better off giving Milford more space by playing him at the back.
