Surprised the concern about Boyd forcing out youngsters relates to Jayden, who is 17 and can reasonably be called a couple of years away. Surely the real concern is Taylor going. Hunt rightfully is locked in and so is Milford. If Boyd plays FB the other 2 (both under 25) play the halves and Taylor has absolutely no chance of forcing his way in.

Taylor isn't off contract for another two years yet.

Jayden is either off contract or will be next year.

Already plenty of conjecture about clubs trying to poach him. Which is apart of the reason why the Broncos punted Paia'aua, to save money for Jayden.

I'm quite disappointed that Wayne has anointed Boyd as fullback before he's even signed. Not even a chance of a competition between Barba, Milford and Boyd?

I guess our only hope is Boyd cutting the apron strings as signing elsewhere.

That may be but if Milford and Hunt are our halves I can't wait to get out of there as a half. If Jayden wants to be a hooker, all he needs to do is realise he is up against McCullough and he'll be in first grade by the end of the year.

I think I'm right in saying that Bennett has some of the most talented young players coming through, that the Broncos have had in long long time.

Was talking about in general tbh. On Boyd though, has he actually said "...I want Boyd here..."? Or has he simply responded to a question by saying "...if Darius was to come here..."? The only quote I can find on the subject...

"They all bring different things but Darius Boyd is the best of them all. His reputation would suggest that his form over the past six years since he's been away has been outstanding most years," Bennett said.

"He brings the qualities that teams need. Josh and Ben did a great job at different stages this year as well. If we finished up with one of them at fullback we can manage that. Darius is not here, Josh Hoffman is. That's the reality. If Darius comes here we'll make another decision."

Boyd is a very good fullback when he wants to be. He has been very inconsistent the last few years which is just one of the many reasons I would prefer not to sign him.

If he can't displace either or force Boyd out in 2 years, he won't be worth keeping.

If he isn't good enough to force his way into the team by then and he wants to look elsewhere then good luck to him I say.

I highly doubt that will be the case and believe we'll see him in the first grade side within the next two years but if things don't pan out then so be it.
