I have never denied that Bennet likes Boyd as a player . Why wouldn't he , the guys a fucking international.
Check his record as a fullback , at his best, he is elite, you can't disregard milford's defence if you want to a top 4 team

Because it will be better at 5/8?

P.S. BTW, Barba's record is nothing to throw away either...

at least at 5/8 he can have a shotgun .at the back he is a speedbump. I'm as excited about AM coming as we all are, but he needs to work on his defence to go to the next level where some posters seem to have him already. hang on a sec I'll just check Ben's test and origin stats. Oh wait!!!

Its a good point. Everyone is happy to snap up boyd and play him at fullback because of his record, yet they are happy to throw barba away despite his.

You seem to greatly overrate Boyd's defense... he's not much better than a speed bump either, and Barba beats him with ease in every aspect of the fullback position, bar the high ball.

Let's not be silly with rep stats. Boyd's are exclusively as a winger, and the only individual prize he ever won was a Clive Churchill medal playing... 5/8. Oh wait, that's it, Boyd should be our 5/8!

At least Barba has a fantastic record and stats (both in the tries saved as well as scored) in the position we're actually discussing...

I really wanted Barba to be a success at the Broncos. I hope he gets a chance under Bennett but reading the updates of todays meeting, its hard to see where that will come from.

I'm not slitting wrists about Milford being the 5/8th round 1 in 2015 and not fullback. If the guy was available to us this year it is where he would have started so it really is the reason why we signed him in the first place.

I'm personally not a fan of Boyd and was quite happy when we punted him the first time but i can also admit, he has the capability to be a better player than i initially gave him credit for. He was a gun for the Dragons.

One thing that sticks out to me at the moment is how much confusion in most of our backline players. Its like none of them can stand up and say this my position damn it, and as long as i am fit i will be wearing this number only. The musical chairs they seem to play throughout the season is very frustrating.
Hoffman - Fullback/Wing/five-eighth
Maranta - Wing/fullback
Hodges - Centre/Fullback/five-eighth
Copley - Centre/Wing
Barba - Fullback/Wing
Milford - Fullback/five-eighth
Boyd - Fullback/Wing

Reed and Vidot are pretty sure in their position but they are probably the 2 most likely players to be replaced by better talent.

Why is it so bad that he's walking into a starting fullback position? It's not like anyone has a mortgage on the spot. Barba, Hoffman and Hodges have been a real mixed bag this year at the back and don't really deserve a walk-up start, imo. I agree with Bennett - Boyd is a better fullback than all of them.

What about Milford, the most exciting player in the competition for the last 2 years, whose best position is clearly fullback?

Barbas 2012 was better than any year Boyd has ever had. Barbas 2014 was better than Boyds. Barbas 2013 was better than Boyds.

Boyd has been absolutely pathetic this year at fullback. Mind bogglingly bad. Reserve grade bad. Last year he wasn't much better. The year before he didn't score a try til like round 18. To say Body is a better fullback than all of them shows that you either haven't watched all 3 of them play, or you haven't seen Boyd play at the very least.

There is no world in which Boyd is a better fullback than Barba and Milford.

Well if Bennett is going to play Boyd at fullback that just tells me he doesn't think both Milford's lack of experience and defence can cut it throughout an entire season.

If the last 2 years of Milford killing it didn't prove it then Bennett is beyond senile if that's what he thinks.

If Bennett gets Boyd and does put him in fullback (please no) then it's Hoffman, Barba and Milford to fight over 5/8 and a wing spot. Assuming he won't stifle the career of an emerging star, who do we think is better suited for a wing spot, Hoffman or Barba? and who misses out, Vidot or Maranta?

Personally I'd prefer to see Hoff on the left and Barba on the right but I can't see both getting the gig.

Really hope this isn't the case. Surely someone known for being a great man manager with a penchant for helping people turn their lives around (like he seems to be trying to do with Boyd and Packer) won't dump Barba on the rubbish pile. But then again, it is rugby league we are talking about...

Pretty poor point considering he earned those opportunities on the back of his form at fullback.

Not to mention that I'm meant to take it as a negative that a player has played at elite levels in 4 different positions and has the credentials to prove it.

I think hoffman would be great on the wing as he has showed previous season but there is no point keeping him around if he covets a fullback or five eighth position.

I personally don't think we can carry all of Hoffman, Barba, and Boyd in the current squad. My preference is to keep Barba and have neither of the other 2 but if Boyd is a certainty to be here, then i am in favour of letting Hoffman go to improve the balance of the squad.

Killing it in attack is fine, what about the other half of the game.

Raiders were complete arse this year so it didn't really figure in the scheme of things but it will for us.
