Hunt had his best game as far as kicking goes this season, even if his grubbers aren't crash hot (he was lucky with a couple of rebounds that resulted in accidental offsides from grubbers he kicked against opponents).

He is however progressing and certainly the biggest difference between this year and last, now that our ruck defense has gone to shit again.

he is almost always great defensively probably one of the best defensive halves in the game. he usually has a very high tackle count too making numerous try savers.

We pop up now and then when folks compare him to great players and call Him the best half in the game. Wake up to yourself people. He's Qld cup standard at best!

Slight tongue in cheek with the title of the thread here buddy! Obviously he is not the best halfback in the comp but he is doing a pretty solid job in his 1st year as the "main halfback". Also doesn't help when you have a 5/8 that has on avg one pass and zero kicks per game outside you.

You know what annoys me? Ben Hunt is doing what he can with no 5/8th and some people blame him for our losses. He gets run at by 4 or 5 forwards on the 5th every single set because everyone knows he is going to kick it.

It's the same as Barba's kick returns. Everyone expected to see 2012 Barba doing amazing things in broken play and scoring from one end to the other. The Broncos forwards are so soft in the middle this year that the other team marches far enough down the field that Barba catches it and is greeted with a line of big men ready to tackle him. But instead Barba has had to play 5/8th in attack because Brisbane don't have one which kills his natural game because he goes from receiver of the ball to the person who has to throw the pass.

If Brisbane were able to keep the opposition from making so many metres we would see more from both Hunt and Barba. And while Barba's game is definitely crippled with the current team structure Hunt is still making a good go of it. He is getting tries, setting up tries and isn't a turnstile in defence.

Hoffman at 5/8th experiment has to end. It doesn't work. Hoffman is just playing as another centre slightly inside of Reed which is actually making Reed's game worse too.

That side just shows how badly we need some big props... I hope they are working on it.

unfortunately they thought this was taken care of with Kennedy. But he's a fucking disaster!

Personally i think its shows how well ben hunt is playing in most games our forwards have been a big dissapointment this season . and hunt as still managed to impress. he still has alot to work on but hes proved once and for all he belongs in the nrl

To be far he was touted as a future lock back when he was still playing with us. I'm not envisioning him as a run of the mill lock; God knows when we have backrowers as wingers, locks as props and numpties at 5/8 that we like playing a different style of football.

Stick his arse on the opposite side of the field as Ben Hunt and have them play as the halves. Then give Barba and Milford a license to roam and play what they see. Just imagine it, two organisers and essentially two fullbacks/support runners/second 5/8ths. It's hardly a difficult scheme to implement. Karmichael was also technically sound and a strong runner of the football, he's no slouch.

Dude, this might sound like a good idea, and it would be a good idea...In a competition where forward packs like the one Souffs are running with don't exist. We would get absolutely creamed by them with such a format.

It's all about the ball playing second rower rather than lock these days. Locks are important for their workrates, playing almost as extra props. 2nd rowers with some ball playing, like Lewis, Bird, Stewart (who is a shitty 2nd rower though), Wade Graham, etc.

If Hunt was bigger he would probably make a good 13, as for his 7 ability, he can't kick and more often then not his passing is ill directed, watch next game and see how many drop balls he causes.

Ben Hunt has been my favourite player since 2008. He is amazing with the ball and is getting really good at tackling. It's good to see Macca stand up for him against Nate Myles on Friday, cause otherwise Nate would've punched his head in. Thank you Macca!
