Yep, makes sense.
How many beers did you have again? [icon_drun

I am serious, I had the same opinion before I had any Beers. The Broncos are to me taking 2 steps back if Bennett comes back. I don't see the benefits. The club and some fans need to get over Bennett.

Yeah, it's the part about you being excited if he does come back that made me think you've had a few... [icon_wink

Bennett come alone or don't come.

Er...why?

Because i don't want to see us shed players just so he can bring some Dragons with him.

I am not going to cry if he comes back but I would prefer if he doesn't.

Who said we'd be letting players go?

We've got a fair bit of cap space for next year after Lockyer's retirement.

hmmmmmmmmm think about it.... If we sign Boyd we are a chane of losing Hoffman, if we sign any other halves we are a chance of losing Norman and Hunt... [icon_shru

Re: is the master coming home

as Beads said, If he brings a Dragon he will play that dragon.. yet imo every position in our club is filled outside of the Halves.

Front row? Centres?

Boyd > Hoffman

At the moment sure, but who knows how good either will be 2 years down the track?

Then again, I just think fullback is covered with Hoffman, Beale, Gagai, Kahu and Maranta all decent prospects. Heck Norman can even fill in there for old times sakes.

Re: is the master coming home

Bennett's not an idiot guys.

If he decides to come here, he'll evaluate the squad and where it needs strengthening. He won't sign any unnecessary players.

Besides, as Big Pete mentioned, there are a couple of areas of our team where we are quite weak.

That's not the point.

With the salary cap, you don't just sign players for the sake of it just because "they're better". It's about value, it's not worth paying Boyd 400k or more if we can keep Hoffman for 200-250k.

That being said I wouldn't mind seeing Boyd play centre with Hodges(if he does re-sign) or to replace Hodges but really I would rather he didn't come, we don't need backline players. We need a quality prop or more importantly a quality half.

Re: is the master coming home

I'd have Boyd or Stanley as Hodgo's centre partner over any current Bronco. Not sure whether Stanley would do a better job as a halve than Hunt though, and there are no available props at the Dragons that are better than what we have.
Like Ning said, Benny is not an idiot and wouldn't bring a Dragon with him just for the sake of it...

Re: is the master coming home

I'd take Trent Merrin and Dan Hunt over Tronc, Kenny, Dodds, Hala, Anderson and McGuire.

Merrin in particular looks like a great prospect.

He may not be an idiot but he makes some dumb choices in player positions.

As for the positions Pete named..
Centres - Reed will do the job imo we have Copely in the wings as well
Front Row? We currantly have players who bennett played sitting in Qcup.. Kenny springs to mind.

Really? Because Anderson/McGuire are just going to get better with time. We arn't the Bulldogs we breed them in Brisbane.

(Anderson may be a former storm player but he wasnt huge there so stfu [icon_razz1 )

He made the right call, Kenny is soft.

Reed maybe a solid player and a good defender, but you'd be kidding to have him over Stanley. Copley could go either way, still needs to improve his d.

McGuire could be a talent, so that's what? two good front rowers? With Anderson slightly decent?

Most good packs have at least three good front rowers.

Re: is the master coming home

Bring Soward with him.
