Broncoman's State of Origin thread of hope and despair

What? I read that and thought I was reading the wrong article. Disappointed to hear the truth?

I was waiting to read him absolutely bag the **** out of some of their players, and talk about how Bird glassed a chick.

But no. He outlined just another reason why we all hate NSW. They have no respect for our team, or the own fucking jersey they wear.

As I posted earlier in the Game 3 thread I've got no idea why Cam would say this as comments like this can backfire against you and make your opponents more determined and hungry for victory. Also if I was the NSW or QLD captain for that matter I wouldn't worry about our opponents I would just worry and focus on my own team.

and that my friend is why you're a 7 time loser.......

Love ya Mr Fourex probably the most one-eyed QLD'er I've ever come across.

When you fire NSW up they become overly aggressive, their actual footy skill changes very little it's just the aggression that changes. A fired up Greg Bird is a stupid Greg Bird.. Comments like this from Smith are likely to wind up with Bird in the bin when his attempt to be passionate results in him throwing a punch.

This may sound a bit crazy but I think that QLD's run of losses will benefit NSW in the long term and good things can come out of it as well.

1: Teams from many sports fight back from their lowest point and turn it around. For example look at where the Queensland Reds where at the end of 2007, Collingwood in 1999, Australian Rugby in general in the early 70's, Penrith in 2001.

2: QLD players were brought up on stories if being beaten for years and were determined as ever to win when Origin kicked off. Stories like this can be filtered down to the up and coming NSW players and they will play with that determination.

3: There is a some really good up and coming talent in NSW, based on the results in the under 20's game and lower levels for a few years.

It's not crazy at all, failure is one of the greatest motivators for success. If they add some passion to that determination then they will have a fighting chance at not succumbing to another catastrophic run of failure again.

That, and dropping Pearce ;)

Would love too see Adam Reynolds get a go next year, he has dodged the second year syndrome theory and as this season has gone on he has just got better and better.

Got the ultimate Origin collection on and I'm watching the 2nd game of 1983 which one of the NSW bush boys (Paul Field). He would've made the Sydney premiership easily, isn't intimidated and is throwing himself at the Queenslanders at will he also has a strong work rate.

So he should play for Gal in the third game...?

Mate, it was 1983...let it go already...

:winky:

Personally I thought QLD's reaction to the Gallen-Myles punch up was a dummy spit because their team got beaten.

*raises eyebrow* Really?

The only thing I spat the dummy about was that he wasn't binned for 10. Also the gutless way Gallen himself went about it, Myles not looking etc.

If I recall correctly, we also spat the dummy after game 2 because of the Merrin fight....but we won that game. Maybe we QLD's just enjoy spitting the dummy :p

Bit like Gordon Tallis when he went after Ben Ross, I really like Gordie and he is a top bloke but his comments were hypocritical imo.

Bman if you bothered to get your facts right and not really on the "Journos" south of the border hyperbole you would know that Qld spat because of Gallens thug shot swinging arm, cheap shots, BS reasons to the ref and his comments the following days.

Gordie has come out saying he regrets the punch ons and is embarrassed his kids saw the footage.
