Billy Walters made his ISC debut today for Easts.

SON OF A GUN ON THE RISE
Billy Walters, son of Broncos legend Kevin Walters, made his Intrust Super Cup debut for Easts Tigers on the weekend and looks certain to do his illustrious family name proud.
Walters, who played half in Easts FOGS Cup grand final win last year, came off the bench and played a bit at dummy half and showcased his organisational skills as well in the Tigers 32-24 loss to the Ipswich Jets.
It was fitting that Walters made his debut at Ipswich, the city where his famous father played so much of his early football.

It's not really debatable, Blair has been very disappointing this year, one of the worst buys of the year at this stage, but Bennett got him for a reason, there's something that he can do that we haven't seen yet, I'm hoping it comes soon though, because we aren't winning a premiership with a pillow starting at prop

I disagree. We're holding pretty strong in the middle, something we haven't been able to say for years. We might not be able to easily see Blair's subtleties towards that, but seeing as he's the major new new face in the pack, I have to argue that we are seeing the results.

I disagree with Blair being a horrible signing. Although he's cracked 100 meters a few times this year, I will admit that his running game has been pretty ordinary, but that's not all that he bring to the side. His defence is excellent, he gives us something in the middle that we didn't have with hannant or Kennedy last year.

You guys must've misunderstood me, I've been really happy with this defence, but his metre gains / hit-ups are pretty below par for a starting prop, if he can bend the line a little more and work on not getting driven back every second tackle, he'll be a beast.

Last game was kind of an anomaly. He's never been a tackle-buster, but he's rarely driven back like he was on Friday.

Another thing a lot of us were concerned about when he signed was him giving away penalties, and the fear was justified from his time at the Tigers. But I hadn't noticed him being too ill-disciplined with us. So I looked up NRLstats - 3 penalties conceded in his 6 games. And when you consider two were in the Souths game, that's 1 penalty in the last 5. Have to give him (and Bennett you'd assume) credit for that.

I've also noticed a few times that Blair has got to the line and passed on to milford which obviously something they practise at training. It gives Milf a bit more time and space and I think it will eventually be deadly once they et a bit better at it.

Story in the paper tomorrow about Hodgo considering pulling the pin at the end of the year.

I actually thought Hodges was only good for one more year...two years ago ! I hope he does retire but he was a champion in his prime and still a good player now. I will be mildly surprised if he does play on in 2016

God no. Hodgo's the heart, soul and brains of this team. I know Kahu and Copley are decent players but in reality they're not up to the job of being Justin. And don't try to cheer me up with the thought of signing Gagai or someone as his replacement, in reality there aren't any other centres in the NRL who are even fit to carry his boots. He can (reluctantly) retire in 2017 after leading us to back-to-back premierships, winning the dally m, golden boot and my heart.

Going to take some real tough sticky tape to achieve all that.

No point in me posting now, I'll just quote this.

While Hodges going will be disappointing it creates opportunities for young players

I'll miss his milking.

Kikorima signs a one year extension.
YOUNG gun Kodi Nikorima has ignored outside interest to re-sign a one-year contract extension with the NRMA Insurance Broncos. The 21-year-old, who made his debut for the Broncos in round two this year, will be at the Broncos until at least the end of the 2016 season after agreeing to a new deal.
Nikorima said this morning he was pleased to settle his future so he could continue to concentrate on improving his play in the NRL.
“I am thankful for the opportunity I have been given this year and was happy to re-sign,” he said.
“My number-one priority was to sign with the club - I have been with the Broncos since I was 12 years of age.
“I hadn’t really thought about going, so it I was very pleased to re-sign with the club.”
The clever utility was part of the Broncos’ under 20s team that went all the way to the National Youth Conference grand final last season.
In 2015 Nikorima has developed into a dangerous prospect for the Broncos, coming off the bench to provide spark in the team’s run to the top of the NRL ladder.
The Kiwi-born player was given a glimpse into his future last month when made 18[SUP]th[/SUP] man for the New Zealand national team for their Anzac Test Match against Australia.
Broncos’ chief executive Paul White said the club was excited to lock up the young talent for another year.
“This is great news for the Broncos club, Kodi and his family,” said White.
“Kodi has obviously been with us for a long time and as a club we wanted to keep him here.
“We are certain under the guidance of head coach Wayne Bennett he will continue to develop as an NRL player.
“It is a show of faith for him to commit to us for at least another year when there was obvious interest from outside.”

Hell Yeah!!!! Hopefully he will get a few opportunities in the starting side in the next 2 seasons. It is one step closer to signing Jayden.
