He is the head coach and according to reports after the end of season review, was given full control over decisions regarding the team

I'm pretty sure if Seibold said, "i want Croft signed, make it happen", it could have been done. He is too laize faire when it comes to making the big decisions and doesn't appear to realise his arse is on the line here. Another fucked season and he will be out the door. All the fact finding missions in the world won't save him -despite how clever he thinks he is.
He probably could have for next season at the cost of Fifita or if our saviour Kahu never returned.

Yeah you might be right fella. I am just venting - is a long off-season and I'm still holding grudges over that final game 🙁

Calm down mate, as I said in my previous post, judging by media reports he was given control by the board to make the changes he thought necessary. I am only going by that, so yeah, it could very well be inaccurate and the media/myself may be full of shit.

Look, I am not trying to get into another Seibold v Bennett debate. Truth be told, I don't like either of them.
That is fair enough mate. Seibold deserves criticism for last season (as does the club as a whoke from the top to the bottom). I just don't think the roster situation is one he is responsible. What he owns is the failure to properly implement his systems (if they exist) in attack and defence, the failure to have us playing as a cohesive unit and some bewildering selection and positional decisions. But we live in hooe that next season everyone lifts their game.

I am pretty positive that if we in fact 100% wanted Croft, we would be able to get him.
We could allow the likes of Isaako to test his market value, and I’m more then confident that a Sydney team ie tigers or bulldogs would give him around that 500k mark. We just re signed Oates, I’m sure we could have spent Oates’ $ on buying Croft.
I still actually think we will land Croft, but I am not convinced he is our saviour.
I think Dearden will have a good year, my main concern is who partners him in the 6 jersey. Sadly, I have all but given up hope that Milford will finally turn into that million dollar player. I just don’t think he cares enough, unfortunately.
After the weekends Tonga game, I would give some thought to having Staggs in the 6 however I don’t think it would be smart heading into a new season with 2 young’s halves that don’t have much experience in the NRL.
I could also see Seibold chasing Walker hard. I actually think he and Dearden would work well but I dont believe he is worth the 900k he is wanting. More like 500-600k especially after watching his origin game this year..
We all pretty much have no clue what is going on behind the scenes at the club. White came out a couple of weeks ago and said there will be changes heading into 2020 and it was pretty obvious the positions that we needed to go to market for.
Seibold knows his arse is on the line, he will not get paid out (in full) should he be sacked due to poor performances, as there is a clause in his contract stating that if he doesn’t perform he does not take away his full salary.
I think we will still see a fair bit of a circus prior to the season kicking off. December/Jan we should see a few changes imo.

This is one of the most accurate posts I've read on the forum 👏

This is comical. He can't just "make it happen" if it doesn't fit in the salary cap. Ironically you have used the term "Laissez-faire", which is an economic term about a market that is free from regulation or governmental intervention i.e the salary cap.

He might, for example, be able to make it happen by offloading a player desirable to another club. Like he did with McGuire and Kahu this season. If he only needs say, $100K, he might be able to offload Macca at a subsidy - we can dream.

I'd like to know which parts of this post you like joe ?
Croft not being our saviour.
Milford not going to the next level
Walker being our 6
Changes in Dec/Jan

But only if the player is willing to go, and it appears that Macca has no intentions of going anywhere.

Things have changed, with Segeyaro being suspended we are down a hooker so I expect Macca will get the backup role, unless of course Turpin drops his bundle.

Seibold is gone if he uses Macca off the bench to replace Turpin after 50 minutes. He'll be lucky to last the season.

I really miss Nikorima... feels weird saying that, because I never thought of him that highly, but he is the ideal 14.

Anyways, realistically - seeing as it looks like we can’t get Croft - who are even the other 7 options....? and I’m thinking back up options here, I feel like it’s Deardens jumper to lose...

I get a sinking feeling that we’ll see turpin in the 7 again sometime this season. Macca will be starting hooker again.

I hope we don't see Macca until Origin, and even then I don't want him at hooker.

I'm fairly confident macca will probably be there, albeit on the bench. This isn't ideal, but I don't see them dropping him totally.

Boyd on the other hand, I don't see a position for at all unless it is perhaps a wing spot... Staggs and Bird are surely the centres. Oates has 1 wing tied up, and assuming Isaako is fullback, Boyd would be on the right wing. Although, i wish he wasn't in the team at all.

I think the only possible way we could use Macca is play him the first 20 mins then Turpin for the rest of the game, but I think that would be a waste of an interchange. I don't think Turpin is an 80 min hooker though so I think we need an option.
