Which is an argument I could accept if either of our current options were even a third as proven in the role as Allan.
So because our current options are unproven we should keep throwing money at unproven options?

A guy who should have had 3-4 try assists in a deciding origin game and made a bucket load of running metres and helped chime in to his side after the original fullback went down and helped them all the way to a prelim is unproven?

You quoted and replied to yourself, but I'm guessing you're referring to me... in which case I am referring to the one and only Seibold... thought your comment was sarcastic
I was quoting myself because it’s the post you liked. Nah I wasn’t being sarcastic I’m just an idiot.

More the point is why when he's obviously only warming the seat for a year or two at most like the other options

Nah I enjoy your posts around here, you make some very good contributions.

The point is it is a small sample size, Michael Morgan is a centre who is now a million dollar a year halfback from an incredible purple patch.

To be honest I am amazed the Broncos didn't sign Allen, I mean handing out be contracts based on potential and small periods of proof has been their thing, glad they stopped it for once.

given the level of discussion here about our fullback, its clear to me the first ruleof NRL is; know who your spine is for the season.

Dont think anyone within the club knows for sure either.

If we are to climb the table this season, this becomes a absolute must.

Otherwsie, face facts; this will be another struggle of a year until we DO nail our spine and let them dvelop together....
It's not a bad point you know. All the top clubs have all pretty much locked in their spine positions. Even the mid tier clubs have got them mostly sorted.

You have a look at the clubs everyone is predicting to run down the bottom of the ladder and a common theme is that their spines are a dogs breakfast overall.

I can accept he's not a completely proven gun, but to imply he's only good enough to keep the seat warm for an 18 year old kid that most people have only seen play a handful of games, if they've even seen him play at all, is frankly absurd.

It's not like he's showing signs that he's absolutely hit his peak and can't get any better himself? He was a fringe Winger a year ago and in 12 months since then he managed to play Fullback for Queensland. Fair enough, injury helped his cause, but he didn't get a call up from playing rubbish football. Allan is just as likely to become a better player over the next two years as any other young player is, Walsh included.

This is not a criticism of Walsh, I'm sure he has a bright future in front of him, but he's an 18 year old kid who has hardly played a game against grown men. There isn't even Queensland Cup proven results to be basing this hope on. To rest all our hope and dreams on what he might be in 12 or 24 months time whilst we place hold the position with a guy who was in all sorts of trouble just playing on the Wing last year is just ridiculous.

It's insane to suggest we don't have enough money to buy a competent Fullback, even if he is a placeholder, to play Fullback for 2 years with the strong likelihood that he's going to get even better himself too, especially considering he'd still be basically the cheapest Fullback of all the regular starters in the NRL.

Then if Luke Walsh really is Darren Lockyer 2.0 then we can decide which one to keep in two years from now. I'd certainly rather be in that position than running12th and 9th for the next two years and rush Walsh into first grade before his time just so we could pay one more Middle Forward the same 400-500k that we apparently can't afford for at least just one REASONABLY proven Fullback in our entire squad.

I spoke to Luke and he said he's ready.

that really has only been questioned on here.

there has been no doubt from Kevvie or the coaching staff of the make up of the spine the entire pre-season

Do they not count under our salary cap?
Yes, but we're already paying them, so we'd be forking out another $500k and still wouldn't have a proven fullback.

Many injuries happened and his club coach was also the Queensland coach, that's why he got the gig. I'm not the one saying walsh is better, people who have watched walsh play through the grades are expecting him to be our fullback. Time will tell but it's obvious that the broncos were happy to pass on Allan. This Luke walsh sounds like a good one though

It’d help with the management of Walsh and I think Allan would’ve helped Milford and Dearden as well. Isaako has no play making skills and doesn’t pop up in support (or do anything you want from a fullback really) whereas Allan does and in a season where both halves are under pressure for different reasons I reckon he could’ve helped quite a bit.
