Corey Parker appreciation thread

A lot of the team was poor in the latter half of the year. It's why we went from contenders to making up the numbers. There was obviously something wrong with the whole team behind the scenes.

Sadly I'm an absolute believer that Parker was generally outside the "team bubble" as it were. I wouldn't be surprised if he alongside a handful of others were/are social outcasts within the squad. Considering how limply he conceded this year as opposed to when Hodgeo was retiring, there was just zero desire from the squad to send Corey out a winner.

Social phenomenons always throw the spanner into a sporting teams machinery. It's on Bennett to get them around that.

Because by all reports, he's, well, not an easy guy to get along with would be putting it nicely. That includes on and off the field.

No matter how great a player is, if you don't like him, you won't give it that extra effort and even a coach can't make it happen. The players themselves will know if they did all they could or not. Some will care, most won't.

Well done, Corey. Time for another XVII though, best ever Broncs side:

1. Lockyer
2. Tuqiri
3. Renouf
4. Hodges
5. Sailor
6. Walters
7. Langer
8. Webcke
9. Walters
10. Lazarus
11. Tallis
12. Thorn
13. Parker

14. S.Berrigan
15. Civoniceva
16. Thaiday
17. Carroll

What a team that is and you could sub in any number of others I've left out.

I'm a little surprised.

You didn't include the greatest winger of all time Scott Minto.

Izzy or Yow Yeh in for Tuqiri. Even though they were short tenures. I think they both had more try scoring ability then Tuqiri.

JYY I completely agree with. Izzy wasn't here long enough so didn't count him. JYY on the other hand had no choice, so he really should come in, you're right.
Super Freak, Minto wasn't counted because him alone is greater than any other team ever put together obviously.

Lote is a good shout for a winger in a Broncos all time team. In 99 games he scored 56 tries, scored 260 points, won a premiership, and formed one of the great wing combos off all time with Wendell on the other wing. He didn't have the build of Sailor but Lote had great speed and athleticism that complemented the team perfectly. Also holds the record for the most points by a Broncos player in 1 game, 26 points from 3 tries and 7 goals against the Northern Eagles in 2002.

Absolute workhorse. Biggest thing I want to know is how he improved so much late in his career? Was he just a late bloomer or was he doing something special? Definitely in the top 17.

On on the other hand his captaincy stunk. Should never have been made captain after dismal fill in performances. Wonder if his form slumped when he got a push?

I'd say his career turned around when he was continually snubbed from rep teams. The desire, the hunger, the ambition and the want to be back in that arena, to be back in that environment, helped push him past his limits and as a result he evolved as a player. Each time he wasn't selected, he worked harder at becoming better, and each time he increased his ceiling.

Also, some credit must go to Ivan Henjak who was the one who turned him into a lock. No doubt lock was his best position, but prior to that he was being used either as a front rower or a edge backrower.

I think Gillett will replace him there.

We'll have a bench like this.

14. Morgan/Milford/Hunt
15. McGuire
16. Napa
17. Papalii

Minto won us a game against the storm, that alone makes him an immortal :takdir:

Parker 2016 Representative Player of the year. :clap2:

Finished Parker's read.

Very political; he speaks a lot about decisions and what he did and didn't like.
