Corey Parker appreciation thread

Premiership won't tempt Parker to stop - NRL.com

He began the season by notching up his 300-game milestone in Round 1 but evergreen Broncos forward Corey Parker says a second premiership next Sunday in Sydney won't tempt him into retirement.
Playing some of the best football of his career, the 2015 Origin player of the series was at his industrious best against the Roosters on Friday night, running for 164 metres and delivering three offloads whilst reinforcing the middle third of the field with 32 tackles alongside Sam Thaiday and Adam Blair.

His right bicep that suffered nerve damage while playing against the Titans in Round 20 has been heavily bandaged ever since but Parker rejected any suggestion that at 33 years of age a Grand Final victory over the Cowboys in his 323rd game might be a fitting way to say farewell.
"I'm enjoying what I'm doing," Parker said in the sheds after the 31-12 Preliminary Final victory where he moved past David Furner to sit in third spot among point-scoring forwards in premiership history.
"I've always said I don't have an end date. I can't see the finish line just yet."

What is the point scoring record for a forward anyway?

1799 by Smith, I believe.

He can certainly aim for most games played ever.

Cozza got dudded out of the Dally M Lock of the Year by fucking Taumalolo.

Travesty.

They're all drinking the Cowboys kool aid, so I'm hardly surprised.

I'd have given it to Chris McQueen. He's been outstanding for Souths in the middle.

Haha really? I thought he was terrible in most games this year. Hence why he lost his Origin spot and once you're in the team it's almost impossible to be replaced.

Not a single post mentioning Parker's last game, for shame ;)

Go forth sweet prince into the rugby league hall of fame. You will be deeply missed and it's a shame we couldn't have taken you all the way to premiership glory, I guess the NRL had other plans.

Not the greatest of captains our club has ever seen but he always led by example and never died wondering. He came back from obscurity late in his career to become one of the best locks to play the game and I'll never forget his last speech at Suncorp and the emotion in his voice when describing his passion for our club. Corey Parker, what a legend.

Yeah I think giving him the captaincy this year was a mistake on Wayne's behalf, but he didn't have many choices with Boyd saying he didn't want it and Hunt clearly not being an option.

Great career regardless by Cozza, will go down as one of the best ever forwards.

v.true

you or who picked it about him getting pulled with 5 to go? something smells about that, he wasn't the most tired looking MF going round there...

anyways still, popularity aside which shouldn't mean shit (well aside from the coach maybe.. ), absolute statesman of a club-man. big ups for his future endeavours

(slight concern about keeping him involved with the club RE the playing roster at all if theres any truth to this chinese whisper shit.. still, props CP13)

Corey Parker will easily go down as one of the best forwards in Broncos history. Such a great servant of the club, and so undervalued for such a long stretch as well. I've loved watching him play, and it's sad to see him go out in this fashion.

Parker had a magnificent career. I've never seen someone improve so much late in their career.

He was quite poor in the latter half of this year though. Not sure what happened there.

A lot of the team was poor in the latter half of the year. It's why we went from contenders to making up the numbers. There was obviously something wrong with the whole team behind the scenes.
