Dale Copley - Appreciation Thread

Can we wait until Blake Ferguson plays a game for the Roosters first before rating him over current players.

Or we could just judge him based on his proven ability?

Nah. That's not how this forum works.

It's easy to sit on a pedestal and bag others but how about you give your opinion?

On actual football that has been played, Ferguson is the better player. If they were both on the market for the same price (off field stuff aside) I'd choose Ferguson every time b

He started off the season really well. Played some good footy and didn't look like a player coming off a major knee injury. His last 6 weeks wasn't as good. Looked to try a bit too hard and had white line fever I thought. Needs to work on his Defence as well. He will be A very good player for us.

How about we all leave the personal jabs out of it?

QLD selector has said that both Copley and Gagai are in the chase for a back line spot next origin with Boyd being injured and Tate is gone. I don't think Copley is ready for the wing in origin to be honest he will be targeted with the high ball, but I think he would be awesome at centre and seeing Gagai will most likely being in broncos colours come 2016 we could have both QLD centres which is pretty awesome.

Except during Origin time.

So umm.. what do we do with Dale?

Hodges will play next season, Reed is playing insanely well and has formed an awesome combination with Milford & Boyd.. We've also established that Copley is a pretty awful winger, meaning he virtually doesn't have a spot in the team, baring injury, for the next 18 months, and he's off-contract at the end of this season. Kahu has already been touted as Hodges replacement at right centre, and we have some good centres / wingers in NYC & ISC who will be pushing for spots in the next couple of seasons.

We need to prioritize re-signing Kahu, Glenn, Thaiday, J.Nikorima.. I'm not sure if we'll even have the cap space or positional need to warrant keeping Copley..

Thoughts?

I don't think Hodges will continue next season but it is still quite the selection head ache.

I think it depends if we keep Vidot or not and if Hodges retires. Even if that happens, I can't find a place for him unless his form dramatically improves from this year.

Depends on Dale more than us really in terms of if he's willing to re-sign. I'll give Reed a lot of credit for a stellar 3 weeks, but I haven't forgotten his last 3 years either. I'm not really willing to flick Dale to keep Jack based on those 3 weeks.

Different story if in 2 months time it's "Still going Reed", but until then, I'm happy Dale is around.
