Dave Taylor

I think it is simple and the same problem was seen with Carlaw.
Taylor is a running forward. He needs to get the ball when he is on the burst and one on one with a defender. 90% of the time he will either break the line or get an offload away. Play him on the edge of the ruck and having him hit the line at speed, he and Carrol done it last year against the Tigers with great effect.
Playing him as a battering ram will see him stay a run of the mill fringe player.

Yeah, running on the edges always gains you more metres than running up the middle. But Taylor doesn't have the fitness to defend in the back row. They could make him defend in the middle of the field and attack on the edges, but then whichever back rower swaps around with him just wouldn't be big enough to attack down the middle. It's just too complicated, and at the moment Taylor is still just a prop IMO. If he strongly improves his fitness and his movement, then maybe he could make a good back rower...

He is 20.. Not many Props mature at a young age. IMO we won't see the best of Dave for 2 or 3 years. We will get glimpses of his greatness but not until he grows up and is willing to do the hard yards will he be the best he can be!

Shed weight, get fitter, do sprint training and have a game plan where he is positioned to receive on the fringes of the ruck running onto the ball at speed.

Coaching....

Dave Taylor 2008 = Dane Carlaw. Looks like Tarzan, plays like Jane.

No Dave Taylor looks more like Milo Kerrigan and plays like Jane.

it could even be a mind set issue, with all the hype at 19 he signs a 1 year deal because he can see $$$$$$$$ what 19 year wants a one year deal it is like he has already said to himself im bigger than this club thinks i am! he wasnt even a consistant first grader then. his off season was probably spent thinking about how he is going to be the next big thing and not putting in the effort to be it it is all about mind set

Another thing with losing petro we dont have a forward with auro that the young player look up to and get their ass kicked by. We have no father figure for our younger forward players. Clinton cant lead in his first season hopefully he takes that role next season.

Will Taylor still be at the Broncos next year? To the best of my knowledge he remains uncontracted for 2009 at this stage. Does anyone have any definite info?

Im pretty sure the Courier had something during the week about him exercising a 1 year deal in his favour

Just quietly WTF is with all these 1 year deals in the club/players favour? These were never around 5 years ago?

I've just heard that Taylor farted at the recovery session on Saturday morning. Bennett has dropped him for a month.
