How should the club spend 800k?

I think we're dreaming if we think Tino will leave the Titans, it's just not gonna happen. I'd think we'd be more chance of Haas swapping with Collins from the roosters ( plus some money) if they're really keen on Haas.
collins is a good shout but we have a better version in flegler, we need to replace Payne with a similar player.

I'm not sure about every, but I'd give them a 9/10. Brenko has been a dud signing, so has Ryan James and I think extending Niu was the wrong call but of course a lot of it comes down to unknowns to the fans, maybe they're a big part of the culture.

But as far as recruitment goes overall, best we've done in a very, very long time. All the big signings were absolutely spot on.
Ikin referred to James as being an extension of the coaching staff so I don't think you can call that a dud signing and with Brenko the talk in the offseason about his defensive game seems to have rubbed off on both our centre's this year. As both are on minimum I would argue they are fine for how they have been used.

No, no he isnt. Tino has more aggression and is capable of playing at, near or even above haas' level on some occasions but he does not do it at anywhere near the same consistency as him. He is also prone to a drop ball and poor defence when out of form. All this for the same price we currently have haas on? No thanks!

We don't need another forward talent-wise. Experience and depth , yes, but without haas we still have an amazing middle rotation. Add in another year to them all who are now at or near origin level and you're looking at a premiership winning level pack even without haas. Our production line there is INSANE.

I can't believe people have seen the difference Reynolds has made and still don't want another spine player. Mam and cobbo will, and even are already, elite but they will not drag us to a premiership in the next 2 years and we have a window with Reynolds if we get 1 or 2 more spine players to support him when he's out of form (which we haven't experienced yet). Mam, cobbo and mozer are definetly the future but I'm sick of waiting for talent and seeing it get dragged off of us after we go through the pain of waiting. They will wait behind players if we are a winning club and their price doesn't go up as well if they aren't front and centre like we have put players the last few years.

I think we go for a gun spine player with 1 or 2 years left in them. Keary, walker or Cook (EXAMPLES ONLY) all have their issues and are a risk but if they pay off we win a premiership, if they don't they will retire in 2 years and we have mam, mozer and cobbo coming in.

I'm in the same boat as most on here - I'm not fussed if Payne leaves and we don't replace him with a like for like.

I'd be happy to get a base contract prop in for depth and run with what we have been while Payne has been out - we haven't really missed him.
Jensen, Carrigan, Flegler, Palasia. I'd be happy for Kennedy to resign and even happy to keep James on (minimum wage as the coaching staff extension and metoring - unless a cheap reliable depth option becomes available)

Use Paynes money to upgrade/extend;
TMM, Hoeter, Kennedy, Oates, Palasia who are off contract this year.

Get that Cobbo extension signed asap as well.

I think the spine are growing into their roles well and aren't costing us much either which is great.

1. TMM with an eye to moving Cobbo / Herbie into the role
6. TMM but with Gamble and Ezra both options who are both improving as well.
7. El Capitano
9. Paix/Billy until the young bloke is ready.

What about Jesse Arthur's for next year?, I don't really think that we need him. I hope the Warriors want to keep him, so that will give us a bit more spending money. I'm not exactly sure how much he's on but I think it would be about 250-300 thousand surely. That would be handy for us.

I don't think we do.

we've got decent depth without him. Carrigan/Jensen are a good starting props along with Flegler, Palasia, Kennedy, Willison, Piakura and Robati as the bench forward rotation.

if we could get a cheaper solid option (like we did this season with Jensen), that wouldn't be a bad idea.

but adding some depth to the spine would be a better idea. whether we are able to pry away an established NRL/Spine player like a Walker, Burton or Keary.

or go with some players with potential to play back up and learn from ARey, preferably those that have been in good systems, like Kurt Falls, Lachlan Lam, Toby Sexton (unlikely), Jock Madden or Brayden Trindall

I think we need to get all our young talent signed, a the upgrades done ect. Give TMM and Walters longer contracts, they've earned then. I don't think we need to go to market unless we lose a few players. If we were looking for a middle forward and Kennedy left I'd be looking at Wallace for his experience and he is playing great footy, a couple of years with his attitude around our pack on the field with Capewell will be good.

They have, but this is where it gets tricky: they're both entrenched in our spine. What does that make them worth now, and if it's so little, why aren't we paying more towards our spine?

I don't see either of them in our starting team by the middle of next year, unless there are injuries. Then it becomes who do you want on your bench: Gamble, Paix, Walters or Martin. For me, the next cab off the rank into our spine after Reynolds, Mam, Mozer and Cobbo would be Martin. But that leaves us without cover at hooker.

Traditionally, 14 replaces the hooker. But it isn't a rule. Bennett benched Benji Marshall at Souths, and Te Maire is a fairly similar player.

It's a tough one, and Te Maire and Tyson must be looking at other clubs you'd have to think.

It's unlikely, but Titans are the kind of dumbass team to pay the money Haas is looking for.

Not to mention Titans are not exactly a team that will achieve anything ever.

As for Collins he isn't worth going for, we have decent forwards at his level already, TMM definitely needs to be resigned and that may be a bit costly since he would be on the bare minimum atm and is worth decent coin I would say.

For me it's either swap for Tino or just focus on what we have, and getting them signed up for a few years.

i understand what you're saying but we need a Haas,Tino, fisher Harris, bromich style prop . Just because he missed a couple of games and his output wasn't required, doesn't mean his output will be a big hole to fill. Haas has consistently pumed out the metres over seasons not just games .
I'm more than positive we have money for upgrades to our spine even with Haas getting top shelf prop money, which is why I think we should look at a like for like player.
Ain't winning a comp with Carrigan and Jensen as starting props , Carrigan and Haas most definitely.

Yeah I was thinking/wondering could TMM be an option for halfback when Reyno is nearing retirement, but realised he'll be about 29/30 when that occurs so he would almost become a bit of a stop gap anyway.

I'd say Billy is probably needed next year, until Paix can become the starting 9 with Mozer off the bench, and for TMM he's got Herbie, Cobbo and Ezra gunning for the positions he can occupy.

I would think we need TMM for at least 2 more years. Next year he'd be in there as a 6 or 1 and then depth the following year, but that's not really fair on TMM and where he should be heading with his career.... so the more I think about it the more I think the warriors will or should come in for his signature.

CHT is going on a break next year and SJ is not living up to his previous billing as a player. They're also heading back to NZ next year and TMM is very keen to head back there at some point.

I love what TMM has done for us this year and I definitely won't hate on the bloke if he heads elsewhere for a better and more secure paycheck, because let's face it if Ezra and/or Cobbo or Herbie fire at 6 and 1 respectively, then TMM is sitting in ISC next year and scrambling for a career to get his farm in NZ.

Assuming Martin stays, which I’m not confident he does, he is currently the best 6 and 1 at the club imo. Focus either on blooding Cobbo at 1 or Mam at 6 and play Martin in the other position. We finally get some stability, start winning games and you want to throw the whole spine out for kids. You’re like a mix between Seibold and Holbrook

No, I want to build towards a premiership now. This spine won't get us there.

It’s been 16 years. We buy for NOW. FFS.
