How should the club spend 800k?

No, no he isnt. Tino has more aggression and is capable of playing at, near or even above haas' level on some occasions but he does not do it at anywhere near the same consistency as him. He is also prone to a drop ball and poor defence when out of form. All this for the same price we currently have haas on? No thanks!

We don't need another forward talent-wise. Experience and depth , yes, but without haas we still have an amazing middle rotation. Add in another year to them all who are now at or near origin level and you're looking at a premiership winning level pack even without haas. Our production line there is INSANE.

I can't believe people have seen the difference Reynolds has made and still don't want another spine player. Mam and cobbo will, and even are already, elite but they will not drag us to a premiership in the next 2 years and we have a window with Reynolds if we get 1 or 2 more spine players to support him when he's out of form (which we haven't experienced yet). Mam, cobbo and mozer are definetly the future but I'm sick of waiting for talent and seeing it get dragged off of us after we go through the pain of waiting. They will wait behind players if we are a winning club and their price doesn't go up as well if they aren't front and centre like we have put players the last few years.

I think we go for a gun spine player with 1 or 2 years left in them. Keary, walker or Cook (EXAMPLES ONLY) all have their issues and are a risk but if they pay off we win a premiership, if they don't they will retire in 2 years and we have mam, mozer and cobbo coming in.
Thanks so much for the rant. Let us now revisit the question I responded to `Who's similar to Haas' - I responded Tino.

That was the extent of what I was suggesting, just to be clear, what I was suggesting was that Tino is similar to Haas. Not suggesting that we do not buy a spine player. Not suggesting that he is better than Haas. Not suggesting that he is as consistent as Haas. Just similar to.

Cheers for the defensive response.

And again, no, tino is not similar to haas due to the reasons noted above. But hey, he's a Polynesian that is big and makes big metres, close enough I suppose..

Ps. The comment was more general as a few people were saying tino but you do you bud. Fancy being questioned on a public forum! The audacity!

Just trying vainly to aid your comprehension skills, but you do you champion. PS I always try to be audacious.

I just don't get the appeal of Walsh tbh. Beyond his trial for us last season, I've never really gotten that excited about him. Admittedly, I would have liked him at times last season but I'd imagine that's more to do with the guys running out in the 1 for us than anything else.

Could also be just a product of the environment he's playing in. I'd like to see him with a competent coach and a cohesive team.

I wouldn't say no to Walsh if he wanted to come back. If we had the same attitude 17 years ago, we'd never have gotten Hodges back, he was way more of a ****. Maybe playing for the Warriors will make Walsh realise that he's made a mistake.

I'd take him for 250k 12 months to prove himself. Or not take him at all, certainly hasn't proven he's worth big money.
You wouldn't get Walsh for under $600k. That ship has sailed.

$250k might get you Te Maire Martin if he feels some kind of obligation to the club, but he's worth more than that now.

We gave him the start few others would but will now be on their radar. Hope Ben has factored a deal for him ongoing.

I would like to hear what everyone thinks Te Maire should be paid.

I like the potential that I've seen in Walsh.....I think he's got the something extra that not everyone has.

Losing him to the Warriors was as much our fault as his...(?)

Depends really on whether or not we are going to pursue Cobbo into the number 1, before deciding on Walsh. If so...then whats the point?
