Yes, seems to be making Webcke into a joke too :-(
True. The show looks pathetic, I certainly won't even waste my time watching it.

I can stomach-webcke but not 2 hours of Matty Johns trying to be funny.

The fact that it's called The Matt Johns Show is enough to make me not want to watch.

I'm sure Shane is a big enough boy to handle his own affairs. The way you say it makes it sound like Matt Johns is Webby's daddy and is making little diddums into a joke by forcing him to be in his show. I think we'd better call DOCS.

Hardly. I'm just suggesting the show is a joke and under whatever pretext it's happened, Webcke has been roped into it.

Webcke's ad made me sad.

I actually watched most of the Footy Show last night which I have not done for a long time and I was pleasantly surprised. There was no where near the amount of silly crap that they used to go on with and more of a focus on football related stuff. I don't know whether this was unusual, or that has been the trend. I will watch the Johns show once, and if it is full of the other rubbish, I won't be watching again. Agree with Silence's comments re Webcke.

Do you seriously think the team behind this new offering and Webcke's new employment has somehow tricked Webby in to signing on false pretences? I'm quite sure Shane knew exactly what content and format would be featured before he signed the dotted line.

If this has occured, he can always hit up his lawyer.

Or call Dial a Mouthpiece :)

Fair enough. However, if it's going to be what the ads suggest - a piss take - it's going to be an absolutely horrendous decision for Webcke's career and reputation.

I haven't seen the ads, but it does sound horrid. I would be really surprised if Webcke would sacrifice his reputation on something like this, it is all very strange.

Webcke is contracted to Channel 7 the network is he not? Not so much Matt Johns or 7News. So anything the network wants him to do is bound to be part of his first contract.

Maybe. Though in his book it sounds like his agreement with channel 7 was fairly loose.

We could all be fooled, it could have serious Rugby League discussion, but if it does.. Channel 7 have gone the wrong way abotu advertising it.

We could Banner - but the ads are not going to attract people who want serious footy discussion to watch it in the first place - and the majority of the type of audience the ads are going to attract will be seriously disappointed with it as a serious footy discussion show - so they'll tune out quite quickly.

But I am also surprised Webbie would have agreed to a sketch comedy type show.

The Matty Johns Show will also feature the return of serious debate segment Controversy Corner, a Channel 7 institution made famous by Rex Mossop three decades ago.

The reincarnated segment will star Johns and former Australian and Broncos prop Shane Webcke.

Sounds like Webby will just be in the one segment every week (or couple of weeks) amongst all the character-based sketches in Johns' new show.

Ok I'm watching it now.

Half an hour into the show, there hasn't been any real footy talk. Opened up with a skit and so far I am watching a variety show.

Just hope Shane Webcke doesn't do any skits and is on there for cred.

I'll be open minded.

I always thought it was going to be a variety show with a Rugby League theme. However in saying that, they are trying too hard to put so much content in the show when they should just slow it down and talk about it. Like matches they are just breezing through it with a who is going to win, yep them, next thing.

I don't know what restrictions they have on showing gameday footage but I don't think they are showed much or any at all.

I just watched 1 minute of it and turned Seinfeld back on. "Don Kirk" making a phonecall to David Campese. Was about as funny as cancer.

Outside of the Don Kirk thing it has been pretty decent thus far.

+ 1 although the same old people will hate it. It is more of a variety show with small bits about footy. Not a bad show thus far.
