NNN's Cricket Tales

As a special treat, i may even take some photos of our home ground next weekend!

Won't you chaps just go crazy for that. icon_smile 8-)

I know that I for one would. Just to see you in cricket whites Nong. Mmm.. fruity.

Awesome report as usual. Very high quality.

Your win-losss ratio could have been so much more favourable had your team applied itself a little more effectively though. Congratulations on the win though.

You seem to regularly snare a scalp or two. Very impressive. How would you categorise your bowling style?

Ah, i will not be featuring in said photographs. My identity shall remain a mystery.

My bowling? Well it's relatively quick, not as quick as it once was though as my knees are pretty dodgy. There is a great focus on keeping the seam straight and getting some very late inswing. So, the majority of my wickets come from bowling someone or having them pop one up to be caught. My slower ball is also quite handy.

My economy has slipped a little this season which has disappointed me. But, i am working on it.

Nine wickets in five games is ok, but there is definitely plenty of room for improvement.

Mid 40's here today in temperature, so look what the organisation has posted on the website:

A decision on whether tomorrows games continue due to hot weather will be made between 10.30-11.00am and posted on both the website and the wet weather line.

If the games continue the following decisions by teams can be made on the day:

1. If both captains before the game or at any time throughout the game decide it is to hot to continue, then the game can be called off. (both teams must sign both sheets and results submitted on the website)

2. Extra drink breaks can be taken at the discretion of both teams.

3. If both teams need extra breaks, then the overs for each team can be reduced accordingly. (eg. maybe play 30 overs instead of 35)

The objective is for all teams to enjoy their cricket and at the end of the day if conditions are too extreme sensibilty must prevail.

Please note however that this is only in the event of extreme heat conditions and further details will be updated as information becomes available.

Bunch of sooks!

If they call anything off because of heat, i will be quite angry.

I love playing cricket when it's extremely hot, doesn't look like many other people do though. [icon_lol1.

Heheheh. I don't know WHETHER the WEATHER will be too hot! :P

Nice one grandad! [icon_lol1.

Thankfully they haven't cancelled any matches.

It's nowhere near as hot as yesterday, but i still reckon it's about mid 30's.

I shall check back at the end of today's play. icon_smile

Don't drink milk, it's a bad choice in this weather.

Time for the weekly update.

The team we played yesterday hadn't had much luck, only winning one or two games so far. They do have a few decent batsmen though, but their bowling isn't all that great. Turned out to be a really enjoyable match.

We won the toss and elected to bat. Pretty much everyone made about 10 runs or so, our captain making a cracking 70. I batted ninth and was able to stroll out when we were in a position to tonk. It was a short-lived knock.

Consisted of: 0, 6, 4, 0, 0, 1, 2, W. [icon_lol1. TBH, i was pretty disappointed with myself. I love coming in to bat when the match is at that stage, i just wasn't in my element though. [icon_wink

We ended up being bowled out for 162 off 30 overs.

I opened the bowling, managed to improve my economy, finishing with 1/19 off 7 overs. Would have had two but one of the lads dropped a bit of a sitter! Our captain, who opened from the other end had a bit of a mare, going for plenty of runs in his first spell.

As it turned out, there were four overs left where they needed 26 runs to win. So 26 off 24 balls. This led to the implementation of the 'everybody go back to the boundary' fielding tactic.

Our captain came back on to bowl, and did so superbly, restricting them to only two or three runs in the final overs. The other chap who was bowling, was exceptional and arguably won the match for us. He ended up with 3/31 off 10 overs. Very precise bowling from both.

Anyway, really enjoyed that match. In the closing stages, you could just feel everyone in our team lifting, talking in the field, encouraging each other and generally really wanting to win. It was fantastic to see.

So, after 35 overs they only managed 6/151.

I also forgot to take some photos. icon_smile

But, if demand is there, i will post a picture of my cricket bat!

You guys must think i am odd. [icon_lol1.

Ning I'm concerned that your team only had 30 overs whilst the other side had 35, this will be no good come end of season if it goes to a countback so you may want to make an official protest for Duckworth Lewis to be enforced in a backwards kind of way to gross up your batting score to 35 overs for fairness.

Where have I been for the last 3-4 months! Missing out on Ning's cricket tales. I could have a thread like this too probably but won't steal Ning's thunder.

I am going fairly well, averaging 20.25 opening the batting. Our team hasnt lost yet :D

4 innings. I missed our first game due to work and we have had 1 bye.

How have you been getting out? Goin the tonk or good bowling?

On Saturday I got out to a pretty awesome yet ridiculous 1 handed (his left) above the head catch at mid off. I was just trying to get it over his head [icon_lol1.

The game before I middled one straight to mid off again just didnt have the elevation.

When I made my first 24 I got a good rock which rattled the castle.

So in answer to your question a bit of both really

Solution: quit the lofted off drive. Play safe and drive through the covers.

Thanks for that advice. I don't usually take aerial route much but this season I have for some reason [icon_lol1. [eusa_doh
