So it seems Dane Gagai didn't turn up for training in the emerging Maroon's camp after a night on the booze.

Nooooooooo... Not Gagai surely! :spy:

Apparently because of arrogance due to Queensland winning 8 straight. Sounds like Buzz is trying to plant negative seeds into QLD camp. Can't just be because Gagai is an idiot and was doing the same thing at the Broncos which is why he isn't there anymore.

The arrogance due to Qld winning 8 straight is the sort of crap you can expect from southern media, that in no way defends Gagai (who clearly has off field issues that if he doesn't address could affect his career longterm) for not turning up but to put it down to that shows the sort of depths they will sink to deflect attention from the last 8 series defeats.

As much as I hate buzz it was actually written by two half wits filling in for the scum bag. No doubt he would have said something similar anyway

The 2014 NRL Season guide is due out on the 13th of February.

So Thursday week!

IMO the Panthers have the potential to become a force on and off the field in the near future.

That's what they're saying because half their team was new but half the players they bought are players who were playing so bad for their clubs they didn't want them anymore. Panthers fans are in for a world of disappointment in my opinion.

I don't understand this attitude that the media currently have that the panthers will be a force.

I mean yes they have done lots of signing but is it the quality signings that would be required to be a force?

They have signed a halves pairing (Wallace & Soward) that were dumped by their current clubs. To put that in perspective they were dumped by two clubs that weren't/aren't exactly flushed for options in that position.

Apart from Jamal Idris, who after watching the panthers preseason special needs to lay of the crispy cremes as he is making thaiday look like SBW, the have signed fringe first graders that couldn't oush their way into their previous clubs save for injuries.

Yes they have some great juniors coming through, but if you honestly compare there squad to the benchmarks (Roosters, Storm, Manly etc.) they come up way way short IMHO

Brent Kite and Elijah Taylor are fringe first graders? Kevin Naiqama and Tyrone Peachy are fairly good pick ups as far as up and coming players are concerned, couple this with another year at the panthers from Manu, Segeyaro, Brown, Whare under their belts as well as a victorious under 20's team with some stand outs such as Watene-Zelezniak, Roberts, Jennings, and Cartwright i think they have every right to be judged as a team on the improve.

A lot will ride on Wallace and Soward and while BHQ likes to put shit on both these players for various reasons maybe the change of club is what they need. It wasn't that long ago Soward was winning a GF.

I'd be interested to be linked the media articles that state the Panthers are going to be a force as early as 2014?

Phil Gould plus some astute signings.

he really has. my jaw hit the ground when I heard about the Idris signing and he's got a tonne of depth elsewhere

But I reckon Gould messed up his halves a bit .... the Penrith halves for 2013 were better

Agreed. I don't know much about the Panthers and their system, but I wouldn't be surprised if there's a half or 2 coming through the grades that Gus has his eye on. I sense that, Wallace at least, is a stop gap solution. IF they continue down this road, they will be a force in the next few years IMO

New Foxsports NRL Ad, it's pretty funny

Luke Keary out 4-5 months with a pectoral injury.. god damn it, was so excited to see him and Reynolds in the halves, even though I hate Souths, that would've been a delight to watch.

Twitter and news seem to be going into overdrive about "sad" news that Hasem El Masri has split with his wife. My question is, is this really newsworthy? Is it any of our business? Would it be newsworthy if it was some white Anglo player?

Newsworthy? nah. but I don't think race has anything to do with it either. Sports people and celebrities are always having their private lives played out in the media. Whether you're talking about Michael Clarke's or Brendan Fevola's marriage, or Anasta and Burgess always appearing in the gossip sections.

I don't think El Masri is getting any extra attention because he isn't a WASP
