Brent Read reporting that Souths are going to insist that Latrell Mitchell serves his suspension for the "white powder" photo immediately despite him being out injured for the remainder of the year.

the reports were that the NRL would order any suspension to be served at the start of next season, because he is already out injured.

The players union have backed Souths and Mitchell saying that ordering the suspensiion to be served in 2025 would violate the NRL's own rules ... I'm not sure where the were when Staggs had to serve his suspension after he was cleared to return from injury a few years ago.

RLPA CEO, Clint Newton said:

“The NRL Rules are clear that a suspension takes effect as soon as it is determined,” Newton said.

“It is not conditional on a player being available to take the field.”

The NRL rule Newton refers to says:

“If the chief operating officer or the chief executive officer determines to either cancel or suspend the registration of a person ….. that cancellation or suspension will take effect immediately and, thereafter, the chief operating officer or the chief executive officer shall. as soon as practicable notify the person of that fact.”

if the NRL were smart (which we all know they are not) ... they would just keep "investigating" the issue until after the GF (or rep season if there is one).

that way he would have to serve his suspension in round 1, despite what the RLPA say
 
If he's on a medical cert, can they even speak to him to investigate? Lol, they'll cave though. This **** could do anything and get away with it.

Just goes to show that these sorts of players have not had to be accountable for being shit humans. Their talent has allowed them to get away with shit as people have attempted to downplay it and make excuses for them. Now, as adults, when they are being pulled up for it, they still think they are untouchable and can do what they want.

And to make it worse he will still have clubs chasing after his signature... I thought he signed for a club in ESL already??

He went over to Hull KR. I think he possibly could sign there due to his grubby brother being there but its up in the air. There were issues shall we say with him being there with some players who didnt want him around their families and spoke up about it. No coincidence the ones who spoke up are now on the outer there and 2 are leaving.
