How much did we actually pay for him in the end?
Or that TPDs (or the opportunity, at least) go a fair way to making up the difference. There's also the rep opportunities that come with playing for the Broncos. Friday night FTA games definitely gives you much more market exposure.
At the end of the day, I choose to live near family and in the paradise of QLD weather, awesome people, laid back lifestyle and some of the best beaches in the world and earn okay money rather than live in buttfuck and rake it in at the mines. Money does not buy happiness or time with your family, especially in the short term with the threat of losing your father. My father and Milford's have been through the same heart problems in a similar timespan, so I can fully understand his motivations.
BTW, big kudos to those of you working your asses off in fly in fly out situations. You are setting up your family and I fully respect that. If you were 19 and your beloved father had a dodgy ticker (a relative timebomb) and your beautiful girlfriend was here in brisbane, would you agree that these factors might influence you to forego the money to be closer to those that you love?
I'm one of those FIFOs and totally agree with you Soupy, if you have a young family or a family with issues that are best served with you home then you don't spend time away. NO-ONE lays on their deathbed saying ' I wish I had one more jet ski or bought that investment property '.....all we think of in that situation is family and friend. Milford probably hasn't given up 500 k, his deal at Brisbane may have tpa's and be heavily back ended with extra incentives should he play SOO or tests or both.
Love this post, I'd take money over happiness every time. Put it this way, I'd take a pay cut to get a job I enjoy more.

Milford may take a pay cut now but his next contract will be HUGE. He will get massive coin if he develops as he should. No way could we have DCE and Milford at the club on their huge deals moving forward. It just can't happen.
I really don't think we need DCE anyway.
We don't.
If Hunt keeps developing the way he is, and Milford develops into the player we all think he will be, then we will have a premiership winning halves combination right there.

Fixed I believe.
The ages of our spine players, starting season 2015...
1. Barba (25)
6. Milford (20)
7. Hunt (24)
9. McCullough (25)
Looks healthy for the next 5 years at least for mine, barring injury of course (TOUCH WOOD).
I didn't really like some of the dirty hits put on Milford yesterday. Especially the Moose hit and I think Reed bashed him a bit in a tackle. Yeah it is football but it seemed as if they were out there to hurt him as some sort of welcome to the Broncos 2015.
