NEWS Piehole: lol, I'm staying

I had a dream that Paul Green became our coach... I guess it was more of a nightmare actually.

In all seriousness the man has had alot of success in both the NRL and Qcup. It would be interesting to see how he went with this squad.

The last three years should give you an indication. Don't want a bar of him.

I absolutely don't want him but I am without the benefit of all the information. Mind you I would think he would improve some aspects of the team. My number one choice would be Flanagan if he could have his sentence reduced, even if only by six months. I'd stump up a couple of grand for a bribe, sorry appeal fund.

Mr Seibold really should not be feeling any pressure for the rest of the season. My reasoning for this:
1. He looks like someone who knows that he is gone and it is inevitable that he will not survive the end of season review.
2. Knowing that, and knowing that he has to be paid out for the balance of his contract or an agreed compensation figure, he effectively holds all of the aces. Therefore his gambit of saying he will not quit is totally on the money.
3. If he can finagle a completely unexpected form reversal he might survive into next year, if not, and the team keep performing the way they are, he will cop his payout and move on.

Hence, no pressure on him.

His record without Thurston is not good, and he was deadset lucky to get that rare period of great form out of Morgan in 2017. The reality is that they really should not have made the 8 that year and it would have been four years that they finished outside the eight. If he is the answer, we are posing the wrong questions.

Out of what is available in terms of experienced coaches, Flanagan would probably be at the top of the list.

Yep, think that's close. I have an idea that no matter our results for '20 he won't be sacked but will have the first half of '21 and if still no good they'll chop him. A little form resurgence would help that. Mind you, if the Broncos can secure Green at a reasonable rate they might go with him but I'd say they'd have learned a lesson and probably would only offer two years. I'm still dreaming we could get Flanagan!(yes, would require a sentence reduction but I'd tolerate an interim coach, you, Nashy, me, a Shetland) Now that's the type of coach we need. I won't discuss 2011 and the Dank fiasco.

Ha ha ha ..didn't see your post!!

Heard on the 6 again podcast a couple weeks ago about Green and his quirks in training. Also how he's a bit of a weirdo when he's on the piss. Don't know if the stories are true but damn... He does come off as a bit of a kook

If Paul White continues with Seibold as coach next season, Glenn/Carrigan should call a team meeting and form a player protest. You can't continue if you've lost the dressing room.

a) it is the boards decision
b) Paul White won't be a part of it since he is moving on at season's end

Flanagan isn't available as a head coach until the 2022 season

Thanks Foordy but we're well aware of that. As it's a future thing I should point out that we've got a coach for 2021, 2022 and 2023! I propose we support an appeal for leniency for Flanagan, ask for a 12 month reduction and be happy to accept a six month reduction. Of course the paperwork would be accompanied by a generous donation to the NRL future fund. I'd be happy to chip in.

We could simply sideline Fat Tony in 21 and install a interim coach until Flammingun takes over and applies the old school proven blowtorch. We'd be back on track with that motherfucker calling the shots. Cronulla have missed him sorely and want him back but they'd be the last club the NRL would consider giving leniency. Us, on the other hand, a basketcase in crisis and their biggest drawcard...

And Flanagan will bring short cut methods with him, the players will love him and being able to just do whatever short cut it takes to get better. It’s actually a perfect match.

Ha ha. I really think that's highly unlikely as he's never used them before. I cannot see why he'd use them to rebuild a broken club.

I'd take Flanagan next year as an assistant coach but actually running the show from the background, just like the Dragons. He's turned them from a shit show to a competitive team very quickly.

We avoid the payout, and as soon as Flanagan is eligible to coach, give Seibold the arse and tell him where the door is.

Out of any coach that is any chance of coming, Flanagan is easily the best of the lot. Robinson and Bellamy are not coming in a million years.

Not sure he's allowed to be an assistant but be stoked to be wrong. I really don't know what his punishment was or is.

You're right! Just did a little checking and yeah, **** yeah ! Ass coach in 21 lol. We could sack Fat Tony as soon as this seasons declared dead and install my favourite, an angy Shetland Pony as head coach with Flamingun as his 'spokesman'. Sooo, goood.

The NRL has informed Flanagan that as part of his gradual return to the game he will be limited to holding an assistant coaching position in 2020 and 2021.
He is eligible to be assistant coach only, so for all intents, he could easily run the show, he just can't have the official position of coach. Do exactly what St George have done, selection committee, and whatever else we need to satisfy the conditions of the suspension, and boot Seibold Nov 1st 2021.

Flanagan is an assistant at the Dragons right now, that's part of the reason I'm not overly sold on him being that good of a coach, he hasn't exactly done much to turn that team around.

They're 4-8 this year, they were 4-7 with 1 bye at the same time last year.
