POST GAME POST GAME [Round 8, 2023] Broncos vs Eels

I know the commentating is as 1 sided anti Bronco as you can get, but they did call this one out at the time. Several comments about how that was a Bronco penalty, Eels just lucky to have the ball etc.
Perhaps so , but at the time in the game we had ascendency and all the momentum and so a penalty should have got us down field to apply even more pressure. My point really was Klien either made that a blatant deliberate decision against us or just incompetent reffing, or both. I was watching Nien and there was no one being critical of that decision that I remember.

What a farce that deep down we all knew would happen.

Hopgoods ticks all the boxes, feet off ground, dragging back onto legs and his is the only one not charged.

I think the whole thing is a joke with this tackle, but for his to be the only one thats gets off....

We just got done being told Oates broken jaw couldn't be factored into the suspension and what do you know, look what happens the other way.

Sorry if this has been mentioned but Reyno just said on the radio that he tried to challenge that clusterfuck of a ruck decision but was told he couldn’t (didn’t say if it was Klein or the linesman). He said he tried again but was told he was out of time.

It's being reported that RCG will be out for 3 months. Haas is now guaranteed to be suspended for a month.

The NRL will need to blame someone ... I mean there should be no injuries in rugby league, it's not like it is a contact sport played by 120kg men or anything
There was a judiciary hearing for the BRL last year, I think for the first hip drop charge.

A huge unit, bigger than Payne Haas (probably 15-20kg heavier if you can imagine it) and fast, charged through a couple of players. A back row forward came at him from side on, hit him but by the time he hit him, the ball carrier was almost through the tackle. He got swung around by the guy's momentum, but held on which caused him to come down on his legs, causing a broken leg.

The judiciary let him off and found that it was an accident, primarily brought about by the guy's momentum.

The NSWRL are deciding that the 1 on 1 completely accidental tackles onto the legs are now the more dangerous ones that need to be eradicated, rather than the slowed down gang tackle versions where the offender has time to decide how he wants to tackle and still chooses to complete an illegal act to do so.

Hopgood's is not too dissimilar to Finucane's earlier in the year that cost him a 3-4 week suspension. Two man tackle with a clear decision to place pressure on the legs to bring them down.

Watching the game last night with my missus and I mentioned "Me and Paddy Carrigan are the same weight and I could never see myself hitting the line like him" ... she said "He's 25 and full of solid muscle and bone ... you're 75 and full of flabby burgers and beer" ... oh the pain!!!

The fact that the ref and bunker thought Ezra’s and Hopgoods deserved a penalty and 10 in the bin, yet haas’ didn’t shows that the match review committee, refs and bunker are not on the same page. This is a joke. Haas shouldn’t get a week and Hopgood should get a week or two as second offence. Absolutely ruining the game

I really really hate to agree with Ennis and Brandy.

but this hip drop tackle furore has been a farce and they've now put so many different types of tackles under the hip drop umbrella, so much so that the term has literally lost any real meaning. most of the tackles they've put into this category, not only shouldn't be chargeable, but also shouldn't be punished on the field.

they actually had the hip drop tackle perfect, before Vlandy's through the sheer force of not only his incompetence, but also his desire to completely destroy the sport we all love, changed things.

They seriously need to admit they fucked up (will never happen) and take a hip drop tackle back to what it was originally. i.e. 2 defenders hold a player up and the 3rd comes in late using his body weight to pull the attacking player to the ground.

What happened to Warren Smith? Years ago I thought he was the last hope for decent commentary. Usually always had the sensible take and one of the only ones to apply common sense. He has completely lost that now and just gets stuck into hyperbole and shit takes like the others. Fox Sports bullshit must be contagious.

I'm going to go postal...

Haas and Mam charged but not Hopgood FMD.

I’m still dirty on Arthars press conference basically begging for Haas to be suspended. I don’t give a fucj if he is feeling the pressure but that is poor form, I would be ropable if Kevvie did that.

I will be celebrating when that motherfucker is finally sacked.

Ginane is the new META for Fox with his "everything must be a headline" approach... you either adapt or die I guess
