Pretenders or contenders?

We'd have 2 more points. The Storm would have 2 fewer (thanks Stannis). Our for/against improves by 6. Melbourne's deteriorates by 6. The end result is we are both on 36 competition points with the Broncos +178 and the Storm +175.
Storm would still have a game against the Knights in hand

We wouldnt be top of the ladder storm still would be 2 wins ahead of us

What would be good if the roosters or sharks finish 4th and beat the storm in week 1 of finals a big chance to lose again

Also look at the roosters they came first 3 years in a row for 1 grand final so doesnt matter

Incorrect. We would both be on 36 points and would be just in front on point differential had that game finished 12-8 in our favour back in round 3.

I do agree our best chance of the title is us finishing 2nd with a home final against the roosters with storm playing Cronulla in week 1. Hope it happens.

Sorry someone beat me to it ^^^

I did say originally we'd be top at this point in time, meaning as of right now before storm play the knights. So it'd only be temporary but the point stands that we could have found ourselves on top with 2 and a half rounds to go which is no mean feat. That would be matching our 2015 season albeit with our 2015 form being slightly better. Bear in mind we have had toughest draw of any team this season by far. Tigers, Warriors and Knights only once and we got the warriors without our origin players which was a complete joke.

We beat any team in the comp with proper refereeing (as in, the game is refereed by the actual rule book). Melbourne are only clearly better than us if they're allowed to cheat in the ruck, otherwise we have more threats and better defence.

Intentional defensive penalties need to start being cracked down on. We're at a severe disadvantage not copying the rorters, cows, or the storm in that regard. It's a professional foul.

Edit: for example, that game last week between the roosters and storm. Sydney gave away at least 5 intentional penalties, they should have had 1-2 people in the bin for that. Their fans still complained about the count tho.

Last night was a step back in terms of composure but it's the closest thing to "a loss they needed to have" without actually losing.

Hopefully it teaches them the value of earning the right to throw it around.
Watch all the good teams mate, you can't be perfect every game.

No but we would have paid dearly against a decent team with how little respect for possession we showed last night. I just hope Bennett will drill them on that.

This much is true......but seriously, some fans expect perfection every game and are quick to write us off if we aren't achieving it.

It's not about being perfect every week, it's about looking to improve each week. Determination to play at a high level each week.

Storm in 2012, Roosters in 2013, Rabbitohs in 2014, Cowboys in 2015, Sharks in 2016. They had that attitude and it won them a premiership. They had hiccups along the way but if they got a sniff, they fucking took it with everything they had.

Our attitude last night, it's one we show too often and it's already cost us a premiership.

We will be playing the Storm at some point and we need to be perfect because with Cronk leaving at the end of the season, they won't be playing like shit. We have a lot of improvements we need to make, we have a new spine that needs to gel and combinations to perfect and we have very little time to do it in. Games like last night are a disruption.

I would have been happy if we showed some improvement in some area, but we didn't show any improvement in any area. But we went up against a team that were just as rubbish as us so we won.

Storm weren't at their best today, but they still had the determination and the hunger to play at a high level.

Kicking game and execution need to be perfect when the time comes.

Seeing balls go to ground is annoying, but probably a part of the new playing style over the last three weeks.

Not anymore... Storm would be on 38 pts with +207 F/A. :awwwman:

In other news, we have a top 5 practically guaranteed and top 4 if the Cows beat the Drug Cheats.

I'm not expecting perfection. I'm just saying that I don't mind these imperfect games so long as they can be learned from so we can be closer to perfection come September.
