POST GAME [Round 11, 2022] Broncos vs Knights

Some weird stats in there. Look at LBC and TC under defence. Farnworth and Oates copping the brunt.
I'm not sure I fully trust the TC (try causes)... are they just hitting up the centres and wingers because tries off backline movements usually end up going to the winger or has someone stuffed up further infield that has caused the overlap

I think him and his manager, and probably the broncos, would be looking for a 2yr extension and upgrade on next year... so a 3yr deal.

That gets him through to 22-23yr old and they can re-evaluate from there.

His manager won't want him locked into a long term deal unless he can get huge dollars, but realistically no one is going to throw him $5m for 5yr... maybe someone will throw him 5yr for $3m... but if that's a desperate Sydney team then that requires him to move away and into a completely different environment.

Broncos would love to lock him down for a long deal, but I don't think they want to lock him down for like $500k-$600k.

A possible scenario could see him get $350k-$400k over the next 3yrs... if he's matured at 22yrs old he might consider heading to Sydney, but he could also be our star fullback and looking at $900k+.

If he does explode I'm sure broncos would be happy to look at upgrading and extending whatever deal gets sorted out anyway... like they did with Haas.

The other thing is, don’t we have an extra 5% of a salary cap to spend? So we could potentially extend and bring some of that upgrade into this year right?

No way in the world we'll get him for under $500k. I'm ignoring the figures being thrown around in the media, but you have to look at him as a future Origin fixture, and likely at fullback by next season. The only thing he has against him right now is inexperience, and that doesn't seem to be getting in his way.

Put it this way: who would be miss more, him or Payne Haas?

I guess so. It would be a bit unfair to look at those stats and bash either of them for being turnstiles. They've been anything but. Our edges have tightened right up this season, but I think a lot of the credit belongs to the middle for tiring them out and forcing errors before the ball even makes it to the corner.

It's all in dobbobux anyway so does it really matter what numbers get thrown around... it's up to the R&R team to sort out without destroying the cap.

how many people do we have in BHQ? Surely a BHQ third party sponsorship deal for Cobbo. All put in $500 or something?

I feel like that’s actually not a bad play though. Have someone at broncos hq leak the members email list and get all 30,000 people to put in $100 a year and we have $3m a year for sponsorships haha.

Would count under the salary cap since we're surely not going to pay for him to play against us

For me the biggest concern was how quickly they folded after getting a dodgy call.

They went from being down by 8 to being down by 24 and it all happened in the space of about 15 minutes, reminded me back to us when we'd be in the game until half time and then something would go against us and suddenly the floodgates would open.

They had 21 tackles in our 20 at halftime, at the same point in the game we had 8 in theirs, yet we went into half-time with scores level, that right there is where they lost the game, not because of a bad call.

I think the Broncos are a lot fitter this season .
Fatigue leads to poor decision making . Still making lots of errors but able to defend till the opposition makes their mistakes . Then finishing over the top of the opposition . All Blacks have made an era of Rugby domination using that plan .

I actually think attacking from about 40 out is better .
Less defence in the ball players faces and more angles toward the try line to pierce through . Kotoni and Selwyn are proof of this .

Also - Capewell was up in Milford's face all game. Almost like he took how Milford treated our now again proud club during his tenure here personally. Should have seen his reaction to the Farnworth intercept he had the face of : "WE ****'N GOT HIM BOYY!!"

I've sent that to him..

Will let you know his thoughts 🤣 that's a cracker
