I think Josh rogers over madden. Kev needs to pick whoever can defence better and that is rogers. In all seriousness, why the hell did we get madden over gamble.

Madden had one bad game on debut .
Gamble had several bad games over a cpl of seasons . Need to see a larger sample size from Madden .

because Gamble didn't want to play back up. so we essentially chose Mam over Gamble.

I doubt Gamble was expecting the Knights to move Ponga to 6, then go out and sign Hastings.

besides I wouldn't be throwing Madden on the scrap heap after one poor performance.

So Paix plays QCup because he only got 10mins. Why did Kevvie play him the least minutes of the year, in a game where we needed him the most. Instead of brining out utility on to play 7 or 9, we move our lock to play there instead. Really strange decisions last week by KW.

It wasn’t Kevvie’s best version of bench management that’s for sure. I wonder if he got caught up a bit in the frustration of the night.

Tackling is my guess ...
Paix is a weaker defender .Kev waiting till fatigue set in to the opposition . Then there were sin bins , so not wanting to take the better defender off while a man down ??

Think is comes down to defence and Paixs fitness levels. Could Paix play 65mins in the middle against the Storm who have a few good players who will pick him out if he's fatigued.
Billy was defending at 7 which he's done at NRL level before and playing 9 in attack so he's saving energy in defence and Carrigan would play a 7 type role in attack similar to what he does anyway. Doing this we could bring in another forward to defend in the middle and just swap them out when fatigue sets in and keep Billy and Patty as they were.
I wouldn't be surprised if it's something the team has practiced for at some point.

Yeah has to have been something they had practiced before because they seemed far to comfortable in their roles for how peculiar it was. They all sort of chipped in a capacity and shouldered little roles each. Meant nobody had to think too much about the big picture and just get little parts of the role right whilst Mam, Walsh and Walters runs the game. Billy, Pat and Kotoni deserve a Pat on the back cause that is by far the weirdest method I have seen of replacing a player and whilst obviously they didn’t have the same effect as Reyno would have I didn’t once feel that they were vulnerable. Billy had a few errors late on which sucks but I can live with it considering the shit he had to do for us to get by. Great effort from them three especially.

It's the Panthers. If Reynolds is even 80% we need to play him.

No we don't. We need him for origin and the back end of the year. This game really is inconsequential at this point in the season. You don't take risks with heads / necks. This is a great time to find out what we can do against the best without him.

This is almost must-win territory... Playing with the ladder predictor, if we lose to Panthers, Warriors (without Origin stars) and then Sharks then if all other results go to the team higher on the ladder, we will be completely out of the 8 and on a 4 game losing streak by the time we meet the Knights in Week 15.

Obviously that's close to worst case scenario, but shows the importance of this game and the next few weeks. That sort of freefall from 1st to out of the 8 would be devastating for alot of these young players and I'm sure they'd have the late season meltdown last year in the back of their minds. Hope we can get the job done.

It is not must win. We need to make sure that we don't burn our players out. I am confident we can at least put in a good show even if Reynolds is out, which he should be. We need to avoid the late season burnout, even if that means that we lose the next 4. We'll be fine. Don't forget, other teams who are favoured will also be affected by origin, results won't all go to worst case scenario...well unless the refs decide they will that is.

The next month or so I see us taking a bit of medicine, so long as we don't rush players into the team who are not ready I don't think it's a disaster for our season overall, we still have 3 byes in hand to come.

If we manage a Win out of Panthers or Warriors that would be massive though.

If Reynolds is out then I can't see us winning against the 'Riff. At least it's a good excuse for why we lost! 😜

With how close the comp is it's going to come down to for and against. We don't want to many Souths blowouts. Winning negates that obviously but we just need to stick in there and not fade. Penrith can turn it on very quickly thanks to their fast play the ball and Cleary's kicking.

I don't count our round one win. GF hangover and losing to an English team of all things. I hope they can prove me wrong.

I have a feeling we’ll see Billy Walters in the halves if Reynolds is out.
