[Round 16, 2021] Broncos vs Sharks

We need Paix on the bench to come on for 30th to 50th minute and give Turpin a break.

I imagine that will be the plan once Staggs is 100% and we don't need to carry a back on the bench.

Thought our forwards were very good, and FRF rotation was ok too. Maybe Haas taking a break a little earlier, but he still had energy/desire to get there at the end so.. Kennedy very good, and Glenn did enough for a change. Probably his best game.

I still hate some of our options in attack, but hopefully that will come. A.Rey will also help that next year.

We also still have a fear of holding down and slowing the PTB. Sharks were way too quick at times and with the 6 again whistle well and truly pocketed, i'd like someone in our team to realise we could probably try push the envelope more.

Good afternoon had at Suncorp though, seeing the players genuinely happy was good.

Did I see hetherington in the coaches box?

And Souths leading 26 nil at halftime. Lovely

Listened on 2GB radio from down here in Melbs and have just watched the highlights and nearly shed a small tear. It's been slim pickings for moments of joy this past year and a half in Vicstasia.

Just went and had a look at the ladder and draw and people might laugh but if we can keep this upward momentum, there's a chance of making the 8.

All of the games with the exception of 2 are against teams on the bottom half of the ladder and most of them are at home, including our return game against the Cowboys.

We play perennial end of year fade aways like Newcastle (twice) Cronulla, and Warriors. All of those teams battling for the last spot in the 8 and obviously all are above us on the ladder (Tigers, Cows, Newcastle, Cronulla, Warriors) so each win stalls someone we need to stall on the ladder above us. None of those teams is more than 2 wins ahead of us with 8 games remaining.

The only games against teams above them on ladder are Panthers and Roosters. Panthers will be without Cleary and possibly Lui and might be flat after SOS, and the Roosters have lost by close to 50 points in 3 of their most recent games. Todesco looked spent the other night.

A slim chance but a good way to finish the season chasing it with the eye to next year.

The boys looked happy from the get go, the team looked more like a team. Hopefully its a sign that some of toxic elements are indeed removed.

I was so impressed with Payne, he is a monster, never stops going. Everything he did was quality today. I liked Kennedy also, no frills traditional prop, did what he needs to do. Provide enough backbone to support Payne.

Staggs changed the tempo of how we play, goes to show how things open up when you have genuine attacking threats to worry about. Nui also retains the Fullback spot he looks to have development in his game and he was good today.

I could give a thumbs up to all our guys today, TCR shows why we don't need an ego maniac like TPJ, he was physical and came up with a big play that got us points but i watched him hold off on a few offload s that he realised wasn't on, shows he is not just about the big play every time, he is willing to work for it.

Finally Kev deserves this win, he has put up with a lot of BS, looked like a fool at times but hasn't thrown in the towel. Good to see Ikin on the sideline also.

There was a moment later in he second half where we were really struggling to come off our line and someone threw an offload to Staggs, who cut back through defenders to make a great run up to the half way line. Anyone remember who threw the offload? It was a massive play as the Sharks had all the momentum at that stage. I think it was Palasai.
