POST GAME Round 17 - Titans vs Broncos

It has nothing to do with gloating on Ash for our win. I pointed it out in games last year, he looks to point the blame at others. His attitude stinks. He was disrespectful in the media about his coach last year also. Nothing worse than a unchecked ego. Plus he has that chucky doll bobble head that is screaming for a bit of sweet chin music.

I think this game put Taylor's supposed organisational skills in doubt. These are always more needed when your forward pack is getting smashed, and not really needed when your forwards are on a roll, it's like a linear relationship. And he didn't seem to do enough here.

He seems like he should have talent, but he has a long way to go to be anywhere near Origin standard. Though Origin does have a habit of improving a player straight away sometimes too.

Typical b4l... read one line you don't agree with and away you go...

I actually did say that the poor kicks were solely on Ash Taylor. I called them 'own goals.'

Forward passes, at this point in time, are a joke in the NRL. For every one that gets pulled up I could find 20 that get let go. Even in Sunday's game. That's every game mate. It's a lottery.

I forgot about him taking out Kahu. I was watching the game with the sound off. Why wasn't it ten in the bin? Does anyone know?

How exactly does he have a shit attitude? Do you know him personally? Seeing a player blow up at team mates is probably a sign of frustration more than anything.

They were expecting an easy game and didn't get it.

I didn’t read one line and disagreed, I disagreed with your whole post. You claimed it was the beaten forward pack was the issue when it wasn’t. Yes you said he made ‘own goals’ but it was more than that.

You know seem to be suggesting that he couldn’t play his natural game because of the forwards when that isn’t true, it’s not like he usually runs the ball and couldn’t do it this round.

As for the dig about ‘typical b4l’, I didn’t make it personal or was disrespectful so I’m not sure why you felt the need to puff out your chest.

I thought you didn't like baiting... I guess that's only when it doesn't suit you.

It's the worst game I've seen him play (seen Hunt and Nikorima do that as well), both through faults of his own, and his forward pack giving him almost nothing to work with. The rest is hyperbole of people who have been waiting and waiting for something like this to happen, so they could beat their chest.

A single game doesn't define a player, be it positively (Luai for example) or negatively (Taylor), but he definitely needs an attitude adjustment, and Brennan doesn't seem to be a guy capable of pulling him in line.

None of this detracts from his talent or skills, and I still would have him over Kodi at 7 twice over.

Never change.

I knew that your defence would involve Nikorima, I just knew it. The waiting to chest beat is no different to what others have done in regards to Bennett and Boyd, so you certainly can’t take the high road there.

Even you must admit that his attitude looks pretty fucking awful?

In terms of Kodi Nikorima a comparison was never made and obviously Ash Taylor is a better halfback than Kodi, no one was disputing that. Taylor has been blessed with skills Kodi simply doesn’t have. Conversely, if Taylor had half the work ethic and attitude of Kodi he wouldn’t be wasting his talents and looking like a pudgy little toddler while he yells at others for his own mistakes.

Asking for the opinion of his most vocal advocate is baiting? When someone has been vocal of their opinions and they're proven wrong they are 100% of time called out here. I was in regards to kicking Maranta who has won me over now that he's not playing like Lachlan Maranta.

I've seen him play games worse against teenagers in the NYC. He's always good for a few of those silly mistakes and this is what his passing and running game looks like every week. Once he misses a few tackles that lead to tries (Used to happen 3-5 times a game back in the NYC) he would blame his team mates and yell at them.

That might have been his worst game in a long time though, but usually when a player has a bad game their attitude makes up for it. Unfortunately his shitty attitude has shone in more than a single game. Not saying much there though, I think everyone here would prefer anyone over Nikorima.

Skill, singular. Unless he has another hidden talent we don't know about yet. He doesn't run as well as Kodi and he doesn't have a passing game. All he can do is kick and yell.

Taylor definitely had a poor game, but even the best have had poor games in their careers ...

his poor game on Sunday doesn't mean he isn't a quality player ... in fact:

  • he is currently has the most try assist in the NRL with 16;
  • coming third in line break assists with 12 (2 behind Moylan)
  • kicked 2 field goals
  • 4th in kick meters
  • 3rd in all kicks

but here is where it should have stopped him becoming a million dollar a season player:

  • = 1st in most errors with 25
  • 4th in handling errors

I would absolutely take him to be our halfback, but at the right price which IMO is around the 750k a season mark.

Agreed with all of that but the TA's.....it's, IMO, a misleading stat. He's their number 1 play.....get it to Ash so he can do something.

I can definitely take the high road. I don't go off on a player (or coach) for a single bad game, not do I praise him to heaven when he has a single great game either.

The comparison to Kodi was made plenty. Please don't make me go through this and the live thread, where some people couldn't get enough of piling it on the kid.

I've said this multiple times, and I will repeat it. I've seen this kid come through the ranks since the U14s or so, working with the team twice a week and going to all the games on the weekend, school and clubwise, so I could say I speak with some authority.
He's pretty smart in that he's quite capable of analysing what went wrong, and be pretty objective about his own performance.
While he would get frustrated like anyone, he was never much of a dickhead on or off the field, and you would never see him give up trying. In fact, I didn't see him give up in this game either, but he was clearly very flustered with the way the game was going, besides his colleagues' and his performance.

Admittedly, I lost touch for the last 4 or 5 years (since his move to Brissy and the Broncos U20s), so he could have taken a turn for the worse attitude wise, but I do think the money and/or "bad company" has had a terrible influence in him.
Of course, based on what I've seen of late, I absolutely do think his attitude needs adjustment, and said as much in my post. It's in fact quite concerning, because it appears his coach is enabling him (judging by his words in the media).
This is where I believe Bennett would work wonders to knock him down a few pegs, and it's such a pity we didn't hang on to him, or were able to get him back, because he would be the best partner Milford could hope for imo.

Repeating the same fallacy over and over, doesn't make it any more true, but by all means... keep it up.

When he would miss a tackle in the NYC he would turn and yell at the player defending inside him. I've debated with certain people on here who will deny it all day but he's always had a shitty attitude on the field. Hayne doesn't deserve the blame for this one.

Maybe Hayne was his childhood idol?

All these “ I told you so’s” about Taylor sound awfully similar to what’s going on in the sack Bennet thread now we’re actually performing to a decent standard.
This isn’t a shot at anyone, more just a comment on how short sighted we can be at times if it suits our agenda.

He should have looked right again, Milford was in. He had enough time to look again - maybe Milford wasn't calling loud enough, I don't know. It's a recurring happening - Milf supports and doesn't get the ball when he should. Whereas in 2015 and 16. he was getting a lot more quality offloads.

It's okay. Sims said sorry to milf for bombing this try as well. And lol at Nathan Ross saying Sims never passed him the ball either

What 'I told you so's'? I wanted us to sign Taylor back and was disappointed when we missed out.

I'm not saying I told you so to anyone, simply stating my opinion that he seems to be going backwards and his attitude sucks. If people are taking that personally or as an 'I told you so' it is weird but also not my problem.

I don't have an opinion on the rest of your post but I am pulling this up. You are talking about comparisons made in the live thread? You have to be fucking kidding. Half the shit said in there isn't fit to be read and should probably be perma-deleted at the conclusion of each game. We are 9 pages in to the live game thread where we are discussing Taylor and his flaws and not once has Nikorima even been mentioned (except by you) so you try and justify it by something that was said in the cesspool that is the live game thread? That is deflection at it's absolute finest.
